Whatever your Sun Sign, this forecast will help you make the best use of each month’s astrological energies. Events are most powerful on the dates listed. However, their influence will be active for at least several days before and after. All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time zone.

While everyone is affected by these global transits, you will be most powerfully impacted when moving planets activate natal planets and other sensitive points in your personal horoscope.

THE STORY SO FAR: Five planets are retrograde as August opens: Pluto (thru 9/14), Chiron (thru 11/5), Neptune (thru 11/7), Jupiter (thru 11/18) and Uranus (thru 12/5).
        August
opens in the midst of the Cardinal Climax. In a nutshell, the Cardinal Climax -- a planetary firestorm superfueled by the energies of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto -- is the most powerful astrological aspect pattern of our lifetimes! Its core theme is to release absolutely everything that has outlived its usefulness, while embracing new hope, transformation and paradigm shift.

8/1 (Sun).  Let your creative juices flow with help from today's biquintile of the Leonine Sun and Pluto!

8/3  (Tue). The energy of the Cardinal Climax gets a kick in the pants with today's Jupiter-Pluto square! Powerful through mid-September, this is a potent catalyst for powerful new beginnings. You can also use this energy to give a new burst of energy to an existing situation. Dark side possibilities of this square include extreme violence or megalomania, so stay on the high side!

8/4 (Wed). Mars wades into the heart of the Cardinal Climax today, opposing Jupiter and squaring Pluto. This takes the opportunities and cautions described on 8/3 and kicks them up to a whole new level! This is a potentially explosive time, so exercise an appropriate level of caution. Remember, however, that it also takes a massive explosion to launch a rocket into space. The key is to have the detonation planned, controlled and properly directed. Whatever can benefit from fiery, high-octane energy – be it sex, passionate creative expression, athletics, a bold financial undertaking, or the timely destruction of something whose time has come – it won't get much hotter than this!
Even if the sex sets off skyrockets today, it doesn't guarantee that your partner is a keeper – not with Venus quincunx Neptune, anyway. Relationship matters can be a bit fuzzy under this aspect. So unless you're getting a crystal-clear intuitive signal, postpone any important relationship decision-making if possible. However, there is a big green light for sacred sexual practice with the right person!

8/6 (Fri). Venus' quincunx to Chiron is good for refinements and adjustments in relationships, creativity and finance.
And Venus' entry into Libra, where she'll transit thru 9/8, will push the energy of relationships and creativity more into the forefront.

8/7 (Sat). Next on Venus' social calendar is an opposition to Uranus, as she follows Mars into the heart of the Cardinal Climax. While relationships, finances and creativity may experience more volatility, the opportunity for breakthroughs, awakenings and paradigm shifts is also strong – especially if you follow your intuitive flashes!

8/8 (Sun). Got relationships? With Venus conjunct Saturn, the strong ones can get stronger foundations, while the shakier ones may well be tested to see if they're worthy of your continued time and attention.

8/9 (Mon). Venus continues her extraordinary string of aspects with an opposition to Jupiter, providing fresh hope and expansion to relationships, finance and creativity.
The Cardinal Climax's New Moon is, appropriately enough, in the fiery sign of Leo! It happens on the 9th at 11:08 PM (17°24' Leo). Given what's going on with Venus, new creative beginnings are especially supported. Leo New Moons are also great times for new initiatives relating to leadership or generosity.
This New Moon's Sabian Symbol is, “A chemist conducts an experiment for his students.” This symbol beautifully reflects what a grand experiment humanity is currently engaged in, as well as the extraordinary alchemical possibilities that lie the open before us. Don't settle for just being one of the students, though: now is the time to make your entire life a grand experiment!

8/10 (Tue). Venus squares Pluto today, engaging the Lord of the Underworld's tremendous power. Be open to any needed transformation in the three Venusian life areas that you may very well have memorized by now – relationships, finance and creativity. Once that process is complete, the doors will be open for you to receive Pluto's gifts of wealth and power!
Just when you thought there couldn't be any Venus aspects left, she pulls out a biquintile to Neptune! This radiates divinely inspired creativity and facilitates conscious union with the divine.

8/11 (Wed). Whichever of its names you choose to use – quadriform, arrowhead, Thor's Hammer or God's Fist – we've got us a strong aspect pattern today!
I'll call it an arrowhead just to keep things simple.
An arrowhead's stressful, dynamic energy is caused by its challenging aspects: a 90° square and two 135°sesquiquadrates. In this case, the Sun is at the tip of the arrowhead. Pluto is at one back corner, while Uranus and Jupiter occupy the other back corner.
If the names of these slower planets sound familiar, it may be because I've talked about them so much as part of the Cardinal Climax. This means that this arrowhead provides yet more stimulation to this world-shaking aspect pattern.
So what does a leonine Sun do when simultaneously stimulated by Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter? For starters, he gets intensely bright, and struts his creative stuff on the spotlit stage for all he's worth! Then, if he's smart, he opens himself to transformation, paradigm shift and radical expansion. But he steers clear of power trips and excessive volatility, and keeps reminding himself that whatever gifts, talents and other positive attributes he possesses flow from the divine.
Then he can launch into the world like a blazing fire arrow, dynamically radiating his talents in a way that serves the highest need of all!

8/13 (Fri). The Cardinal Climax technically ends as Uranus retrogrades into Pisces late today, but I wouldn't count on the intense energy letting up much just yet. Continue releasing, transforming and paradigm shifting!

8/16 (Mon). Hope or despair? Joy or sorrow? Expansion or contraction? If areas of your life seem polarized between these extremes as Jupiter opposes Saturn, you may find that the first choice in each pair will serve you better. These are also the two main planets of business astrology, so be sure to look for opportunities in the world of work!

8/20 (Fri). Divinely inspired creativity is available like a flowing waterfall, thanks to a Sun-Neptune opposition and a Venus-Mars conjunction. The latter aspect may help you find new possibilities in challenged relationships as well.
Reflect on those relationships – along with everything else of importance – during the Mercury Retrograde period that starts on the 20th at 3:58 PM. (It lasts through 9/12 at 7:09 PM.) Mercury retrograde is always a time to be especially careful about travel, communication, technology and data. Delays and glitches in these areas may be more common than usual. Be sure to back up your critical data!

8/21 (Sat). What things, people and concepts have outlived their usefulness in your life? Voluntarily releasing them as Saturn squares Pluto may save you from having them taken away without your consent. This is also a time when business ideas with a solid foundation can be supercharged by a fresh infusion of energy and capital.
Part of this energy may come from a consultant or advisor, whose presence is supported by a Sun-Chiron opposition.

8/23 (Mon). Are you experiencing jangling nerves, tapping foot syndrome or nervous tics? The less desirable manifestations of a Sun-Uranus quincunx can be alleviated by making adjustments to follow your intuitive flashes!
The Sun enters Virgo today. Good timing, too: with all the intense things that have been going on this month, we'll all need some of Virgo's organizational energy and attention to detail! Helpful service, another Virgo specialty, will be appreciated by many at this time.
Law of Attraction aficionados may find their visualizations receiving some extra sparkle, thanks to today's Saturn-Neptune biquintile. (Neptune supports visualization and imagination, while Saturn supports physical manifestation.)

8/24 (Tue). The August Full Moon peaks on the 24th at 1:04 PM (1°25' Pisces). Even more than most Piscean Full Moons, this is a time to feel how well you're able to connect with Spirit and receive the flow of creative inspiration and intuitive guidance.
This Full Moon is intensified by aspects to all of the Cardinal Climax planets: it conjuncts Neptune, semi-sextiles Jupiter and Uranus, sextiles Pluto and quincunxes Saturn. However, since the most challenging hard angles are not represented, the energetic intensification should only be moderate.
The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is, "A squirrel hiding from hunters." While this might initially bring up thoughts of fear and imminent doom, isn't it true that we must all face physical death eventually? Perhaps a message we can take from this is to adopt a squirrel's naturally playful disposition, no matter what grim possibilities might seem to be hounding us.
Happiness is fundamentally a state of mind, largely independent of one's temporal situation. Truly, the physical world is the most illusory realm of all -- everything in it is impermanent and will eventually perish, even entire galaxies and the Universe itself. Only in the spiritual realms do we experience our fundamental immortality. So, while the secreted squirrel is taking appropriate cautionary measures to preserve its fleeting physical existence a bit longer, it has made sure to have a lot of fun, leaping amongst the trees, while in its little furball body. The Buddhists say that one cannot fully live until one has embraced the reality of one's own inevitable death -- and so, in a roundabout way, this Sabian Symbol -- "A squirrel hiding from hunters" -- can be a wake-up call to a more rich and fulfilling life.

8/26 (Thu). Step out and serve with your full primal power as the Virgoan Sun trines Pluto today.

8/28 (Sat). Relationships and finance get a boost of creative empowerment with Venus quintile Pluto.

8/31 (Tue). Physical activity and new relationship energy get a magical boost with Mars quintile Pluto.

THE STORY SO FAR: Three planets are retrograde as July opens:Uranus Pluto (thru 9/14), Chiron (thru 11/5) and Neptune (thru 11/7).

7/1 (Thu). Your mental powers are stimulated by Mercury's sextile to Mars, making this a good time for learning, thinking and communicating.

7/2 (Fri). Unconventional healing and cutting-edge mentoring are supported by the Uranus-Chiron semi-sextile, exact today. However, this is a long-term connection: these planets have been making this aspect for several months, and will continue doing so through September.
Chiron is also associated with fresh wounding, and it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that the Gulf oil spill – a shocking and unexpected (Uranus) wound (Chiron) to our ecosystem – was partially brought about by this planetary connection. (It's also noteworthy that Chiron is in Pisces, which rules both oil and the ocean!)
To avoid fresh wounds of your own, be sure to follow your intuitive flashes (Uranus' preferred method of communication), as well as the sage advice of wisdom-givers (Chiron).

7/3 (Sat). Mercury's quintile to Saturn lends both creativity and stability to your mental processes.

7/5 (Mon). There are two creative connections today: Venus biquintile Uranus and Mercury biquintile Neptune. Whatever your creative modality, plenty of inspiration is available!
        Uranus turns retrograde
today at 0°35' Aries. Planets are most potent when stationing, so anything in your natal chart very early in cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn) or very late in mutable signs (Pisces, Gemini, Virgo & Sagittarius) will be intensely stimulated by Uranus' energy of paradigm shift, sudden change and “letting your freak flag fly.” The whole world will also feel this energy more powerfully at this time.

7/6 (Tue). Revise and refine your thoughts and writings with Mercury biquintile Chiron.

7/7 (Wed). Creativity gets a magical boost with Leonine Venus biquintile Jupiter! This positivity and good fortune can extend into your finances and relationships as well.

7/8 (Thu). Is the person you're smitten with truly your soulmate, or are you just looking through rose-colored glasses? With Venus opposing Neptune, you might be hard-pressed to tell. If in doubt, have you and the person you're attracted to spend some time with people who are good judges of character, and have good relationships themselves. Then, later, check back in with that person on your own and get their honest opinion of your (potential) partner.
Venus-Neptune aspects such as this are also excellent for creative expression, and for connecting with your Higher Self. (That's one relationship you can always be sure of!)
There's also another Neptune aspect today: a quincunx to Mercury. If you're experiencing mental confusion, try giving your left brain a break and asking for the answer direct from Source! This aspect can also inspire your writing and thinking.

7/9 (Fri). Mercury is downright hyperactive today, making no less than four aspects!
Its sextile to Saturn is good for mental stability, long-range planning and serious thought. But its entry into Leo, where it will transit through 7/27, marks a time when sharing your voice with the public – literally through speaking or singing, or metaphorically through writing or other less direct means – is supported.
Its quincunx to Chiron suggests making mental adjustments, based on input from a mentor or other giver of wisdom. And Mercury's strongest aspect of the day – a trine to Uranus – will make receiving guidance through intuitive flashes more easily.
The Cancerian Sun also quintiles Saturn, supporting creative and responsible solutions to family matters.

7/10 (Sat). Today, it's Venus's turn to aspect some of the same planets Mercury contacted yesterday!
She starts by entering Virgo through 8/6. This energy is helpful for analyzing and fine-tuning relationships, finances and creativity, as well as extending service to others.
Her opposition to Chiron reinforces everything in the paragraph above. While wounding in the context of relationship is possible with this aspect, healing old wounds in the context of the current relationship is an even better use of this energy.
Finally, her quincunx to Uranus suggests being open to paradigm shifts or quantum leaps in your key relationships, as well as new directions in finance or creativity. In all these areas, let your intuitive flashes guide you!

7/11 (Sun). A Mercury-Jupiter trine supports learning and communication of all kinds harmoniously and easily. This could come in handy, since Mercury's quincunx to Pluto could encourage you to speak your mind about challenging truths and forbidden subjects!
But today's biggest news is a Solar Eclipse at 3:40 PM (
19°23' Cancer). A Solar Eclipse is a New Moon by definition. So, for starters, it's a good time for new beginnings in matters relating to your home, the people you live with, and working with your own emerging unconscious material.
Since a Solar Eclipse is like a New Moon on steroids, its effects can last anywhere from six months to a year. (In fact, many people experience the effects of eclipses several weeks
before they occur!) So even if issues in the above areas don't manifest today, keep an eye out for them during the coming months.
This eclipse is sextiled by Mars, indicating the appropriateness of assertive action -- as long as it's carried out harmoniously.
The eclipse's Sabian Symbol is “Venetian gondoliers doing a serenade.” This image suggests creating more closeness in your relationship by lavishing your spouse or live-in partner with some of the same romantic attentions as if you were still dating.
In a more psychological sense, since serenades are songs of love, it suggests flowing unconditional love to whatever comes up from your subconscious – no matter how ugly or repellent it may seem. In my experience, flowing divine love to something which seems undesirable tends to either dissolve it, transform it or send it packing!

7/13 (Tue). Analyzing your finances, and making appropriate adjustments to increase your prosperity, is well-timed under today's Venus-Jupiter quincunx. Plus, the vibration of enhanced wealth is amplified by a Venus-Pluto trine. The same adjust-to-empower approach can be applied to relationships and creativity as well.

7/14 (Wed). A pair of biquintiles – Sun-Neptune and Mercury-Pluto – make it easier for you to receive creative inspiration and connect with your Higher Self.

7/16 (Fri). If you'll visualize whatever healing is needed in your family situation, today's biquintile connecting the Cancerian Sun and Chiron will help you bring it about. Hint: the more you see a disharmonious situation saturated with divine love, the faster it will heal!

7/20 (Tue). Chiron, which has been dipping its toe into Piscean waters since 4/20, retreats back into Aquarius today. (It will reenter Pisces on 2/8/2011, settling in for over seven years.) Alternative healing, unconventional wisdom and a maverick approach that suits your unique talents will be supported for almost 10 months!
With the Sun quincunx Neptune, your divine source and creative inspiration are eager to connect with you! Will you make the adjustments needed to connect with them?

7/21 (Wed). Some kind of health challenge is possible with Saturn quincunx Chiron. But with Saturn still (barely) in Virgo, the challenge might be mental. (The words of the Na'vi shamaness from Avatar, as she meets Jake Sully for the first time, come to mind: “We will see if your insanity can be cured.”) This is a good time to examine what insane (e.g., unsustainable, life-destroying or inappropriately self-centered) concepts remain unquestioned in your own mind.
But there's another even more significant
Saturn event today: his reentry into Libra! He made an advance inspection 10/29/09 through 4/6/10 before retrograding back into Virgo, but now he's settling into Libra through 10/5/2012.
Unto itself, Saturn in Libra can highlight the challenges in problematic relationships so that issues can be resolved or the relationship released. But he can also, metaphorically speaking, add rooms or whole new levels to relationships with solid foundations. Focused work and discipline are rewarded in the areas of relationship, finance and creativity during this period.
From a broader perspective, Saturn's entry into Libra marks the arrival of
the most powerful astrological alignment of our lifetimes!

This aspect pattern is called a “T-square”, a triangle made up of one 180° opposition and two 90° squares. The opposition is made up of Saturn (tradition, old structures) on one side, and the conjunction of Jupiter (hope, new beginnings) and Uranus (revolution, paradigm shift) on the other. And all three planets square Pluto (transformation, death and rebirth).
This T-square has been building for the last couple of months. It will be powerful through 9/21, and especially potent today through 8/12. That's when all these planets are in cardinal signs, representing new beginnings, and will be dubbed the “
Cardinal Climax.”
Its basic message? The modification or destruction of old structures that have outlived their usefulness, and their replacement by necessary new paradigms. (One example: the urgent need to rapidly transition to clean energy technologies, as evidenced by the catastrophic Gulf of Mexico oil spill.)
This T-square is a wake-up call to the Aquarian Age. This new era's higher possibilities include awakening, rapid enlightenment, appropriate use of technology, routine intuitive guidance, and each person's unique talents serving the common good. I have witnessed a new Golden Age being born on the inner planes, and believe that it will soon manifest physically. The main question is how rough we're going to make the transition! (Hint: start with “Love your neighbor as thyself.”)
To navigate this T-Square successfully, release anything and everything that does not serve your highest need. This includes objects, concepts and people. Consider yourself a work in progress, and strap in for an unprecedented roller coaster ride of accelerated evolution and rapid personal transformation!
Your old ways of being in the world may no longer work. At such times, your most reliable source of guidance is your own intuition. Strengthen your “divine GPS” now, so that you can easily receive its crucial turn-by-turn directions when it counts!
And don't expect a return to “normalcy” once this T-square breaks up. Uranus and Pluto – the two planets who brought us the 1960s during their conjunction – are ushering in a new round of revolution, radical change and extraordinary breakthroughs as they square each other thru 2015. Consider the current T-square a warm-up for this mind-boggling period of light-speed change and mass spiritual awakening.

7/22 (Thu). Whatever the weather, it's a sunny day: there are three significant events today, and they all involve our solar system's fiery furnace!
The first, Sun quincunx Chiron, basically adds energy to yesterday's Saturn-Chiron quincunx. So read the 7/21 entry if you'd like a refresher.
The Sun also enters Leo today, the sign that it rules. This radiates the energy of leadership, creativity, performance and entertainment.
Finally, a Sun-Saturn sextile provides plenty of energy for industriousness, accomplishment and endurance.

7/23 (Fri). To all of yesterday's Sun events, add a trine to Uranus today! This energy supports letting your unique individuality shine for all to see, and increases your receptivity to intuitive flashes.
Your “Eureka!” moments are additionally empowered by a Mercury-Uranus biquintile.
Finally, Jupiter turns retrograde today through 11/18. This is a good time to contemplate the meaning of life and make plans for foreign travel and future adventures!

7/25 (Sun). Today's Jupiter-Pluto square, in Aries and Capricorn, is part of the Cardinal Climax discussed in the 7/21 entry. Unto itself, however, it can provide tremendous power for new beginnings and new hope! There's a danger of overreaching under this energy, however, so make sure that any grandiose plans you're planning to carry out are achievable. Widescale destruction is another possible interpretation – which can be good if the thing being destroyed has outlived its usefulness, and can be replaced by something better!
        There's a
Full Moon today at 9:36 PM (3° Aquarius). You can use it to look at how you're doing in terms of developing, embodying and freely expressing your unique gifts and talents. Are you using them selfishly, or using them in a humanitarian spirit to help others?
This Full Moon is receiving strong aspects from all of the Cardinal Climax planets: a trine from Saturn, sextiles from Uranus and Jupiter, and a semi-sextile from Pluto. Since most of these are “soft” connections, they make it possible for you to work with these intense and transformative energies more easily. Under these stunningly powerful energies, resisting change can make you feel helpless and overwhelmed; embracing it will help you feel inspired and powerful!
This Full Moon's Sabian Symbol is,
A deserter from the Navy stands suddenly aware of a dawning truth: freedom is never the result of compromise.”

Let me preface my interpretation by saying that it is in no way intended to dishonor those who have chosen the path of military service. I honor and respect those who bravely risk their lives in order to defend their country.
In this context, the Navy represents any large, powerful and tradition-bound institution which perpetuates delusional thinking. (Oceangoing activities are ruled by Neptune, whose dark side includes fog, confusion and deceit.) The deserter is doing the right thing: breaking away from blind acceptance of groupthink and seeing the world from a new, more realistic perspective.

Our deserter is realizing that “freedom is never the result of compromise.” If our current global civilization desires freedom from the looming catastrophic consequences of our current path of environmental devastation, then it cannot compromise on one key point: the still largely unquestioned premise of continuous growth must be abandoned. The current corporate and national growth paradigms must be replaced by sustainability models. If we continue consuming more resources each year than can be regenerated, the consequences will be horrific beyond our capacity to imagine.

On a more personal level, ask yourself what you need to “desert” in order to achieve the freedom that your soul is calling for. The coming Golden Age will be characterized by each person following their own intuitive guidance, with order maintained more by synchronicity than hierarchy. Why not choose to be one of the forerunners, and start living your own Golden Age right now?

7/26 (Mon). Speaking of delusional thinking, Mercury opposes Neptune today! If your logical mind seems fuzzy, asking for answers and information directly from your Higher Self may prove more productive. This is a great energy for creative writers and channelers.

You'll have plenty of energy at your disposal today, since the Sun is connecting to two powerful planets. Open yourself to empowering transformation with the Sun quincunx Pluto, and stay alert to prosperity opportunities with the Sun trine Jupiter.
Speaking of delusional thinking yet again, it's all too easy for those still bound to their egos to embark on a crusade for The One True Way with Mars quincunx Neptune. But if you've already established a strong connection to Spirit, taking intuitively guided action is a more realistic possibility. Activities that combine physical activity with spiritual energy are supported now: possibilities include tai chi, chi gung, ecstatic dance and sacred sexuality.
The day closes with one of the most powerful events of the year:
Saturn opposing Uranus. An essential component of the Cardinal Climax (see the 7/21 entry), this represents the conflict between the powers-that-be struggling to maintain the status quo and the upstart forces of revolutionary change. This is the fifth and final Saturn-Uranus opposition in this series, which started on Election Day in November 2008 when Obama, the first black US president, was elected.

In your own life, you'll make things a lot easier by proactively releasing everything old that has outlived its usefulness: things, relationships and ways of thinking. Stretch yourself to embrace positive new paradigms, and above all let yourself be guided by Uranus' intuitive flashes!

7/27 (Tue). Fine-tune your thinking and writing, and engage with mentors and wisdom-givers, as Mercury opposes Chiron.
Mercury is in Virgo today through 10/2: an unusually long time, due to its upcoming retrograde. (That will be 8/20 thru 9/12 – mark your calendar now!) Mercury rules Virgo, so the energies of discernment, perfectionism, service and “keeping it natural” will be more readily available.

7/28 (Wed).
With Mercury quincunx Uranus, be ready to adjust your plans if they conflict with an intuitive flash.

7/29 (Thu). If someone gives you advice and you're tempted to bite their head off, try to restrain yourself: you may just be feeling Mars quincunx Chiron. You can use this energy more productively by taking action to empower your health or proactively giving or seeking wise counsel.
Mars is in Libra today through 9/14, supporting assertive action in the fields of relationship, creativity and finance.

7/30 (Fri). Turning your mind to research, the occult or your committed relationship would be timely with Mercury trine Pluto. In fact, mental activity is generally juiced due to Mercury's quincunx to Jupiter. (Be careful not to over-communicate!)

7/31 (Sat). Today's Mars-Saturn conjunction is the ultimate Energizer Bunny transit: Mars' energy combined with Saturn's endurance you let you go and go and go. (How fortunate that it's in Libra, the sign of relationship!)

Whatever your Sun sign, this forecast will help you make the best use of each month’s astrological energies. Events are most powerful on the dates listed. However, their influence will be active for at least several days before and after. All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time zone.

VOID-OF-COURSE MOONS

It's best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during these times. "Business as usual" is the best strategy for these periods, which occur when the Moon has made its last major Ptolemaic aspect but has not yet moved into the next sign. THE STORY SO FAR: Two planets are retrograde as June opens: Pluto (thru 9/14) and Neptune (thru 11/7).

6/1 (Tue). There's plenty of creativity and divine inspiration in the air with the Sun quintile Jupiter.

6/2 (Wed). Two more quintiles keep the creative buzz and spiritual downflow coming! A Venus-Saturn quintile is great for getting productive with your creativity and finding inspired solutions to relationship issues. A Sun-Uranus quintile amplifies your ability to receive intuitive flashes.

6/3 (Thu). An intense aspect pattern peaks today and is in effect the 1st through the 5th. I could not find a name for it, but the fact that it's made up entirely of hard and semi-hard angles makes its meaning clear enough!
One could think of it as
a sort of Squished Grand Cross: not as strong as a true Grand Cross, but still fundamentally challenging. Like so many of the aspect patterns dominating the sky this year, it carries the theme of releasing that which has outlived its usefulness, and paradigm shifting into new realities that serve the greater good.
Technically speaking, this aspect pattern is an oblong rectangle consisting of two oppositions, two quincunxes and two semi-sextiles. Moving counterclockwise around the perimeter, we have Saturn quincunx Neptune/Chiron, Neptune/Chiron semi-sextile Jupiter/Uranus, Jupiter/Uranus quincunx Mars, and Mars semi-sextile Saturn. Internally, Saturn opposes Jupiter/Uranus, and Mars opposes Neptune/Chiron! All four elements are contained, so its effects could be quite far-reaching!

6/4 (Fri). With Mars opposing Neptune, anything which merges the physical and spiritual is supported. Possibilities include tai chi, Chi Kung, yoga, sacred sexuality and ecstatic dance. But however great your enthusiasm, beware of becoming fanatical!
Chiron turns retrograde today, and backpedals for five months through 11/5. Planets are most powerful when changing direction, so this is an excellent time to be conscious of issues involving childhood wounds, healing and mentoring. (This is especially true if you have sensitive natal points early in mutable signs or late in fixed signs, since Chiron is stationing at 1° Pisces.)

6/6 (Sun). A new 12-year cycle kicks off as JUPITER ENTERS ARIES, the first sign of the zodiac. Jupiter will stay in Aries through 9/8 before retrograding into Pisces, then will return to Aries 1/22 thru 6/4 of 2011.
Considered in isolation, this is a powerful time for new beginnings of all kinds, but especially for those involving the physical body and the awakening or empowerment of your inner warrior. But because Jupiter is joining Uranus in early Aries, there is also a powerful amplification of the energies of revolution and paradigm shift. Intuitive flashes will also be transmitting more powerfully, so put up your antennae!

6/7 (Mon). Be extra cautious, since accidents, hair-trigger tempers and sudden conflicts could manifest with Mars quincunx both Uranus and Jupiter today! However, it's an excellent time for physical activity and taking immediate action on your intuitive flashes.
Mars also enters Virgo today, which he will transit through 7/29. This combination supports physical activities requiring great precision and enthusiastic energy directed toward serving others.
Finally, a Venus-Neptune biquintile adds a touch of creative inspiration and divine connection to the mix.

6/8 (Tue). Jupiter and Uranus are conjunct in early Aries today! As I said in the 6/6 entry, this juices up the energies of revolution and paradigm shift, and fires up those intuitive flashes. In addition, this combination suggests new beginnings and/or breakthroughs in your religious path and philosophy of life, as well as an urge to explore different ways of life through adventurous journeying (physical, mental or spiritual). These energies will remain strong through January 2011.
Taurean Mercury is also trine Saturn, a supportive energy for doing business and thinking things through in a steady, methodical way.
We also have Mars opposing Chiron. With Mars' quincunxes to Jupiter and Uranus still strong, and with Chiron's potential for inflicting wounds on physical and other levels, you are still advised to proceed with caution and avoid unnecessary risk. On the brighter side, this aspect is great for making new beginnings or infusing new energy into healing or mentoring activities.

6/9 (Wed). Mercury squares Neptune today. This is part of the T-square peaking on 6/10; see that entry for details.
There's a sprinkling of fairy dust in the air today, courtesy of two biquintiles (Mercury-Pluto and Venus-Chiron). This magical energy is ideal for creativity and divine connection.

6/10 (Thu). A T-square with powerful mental effects peaks today, and is active the 6th through the 13th. It's made up of Neptune and Chiron opposing Mars, with everybody squaring Mercury!
The result is a fascinating mixture of energies. On the challenge side, your logical mind might feel a bit fuzzy (Neptune square Mercury). Bringing all the planets into the interpretation, some might even feel as if they're under attack from hidden enemies. Continuing our recent cautionary theme, the Mars-Mercury square suggests that you be leery of verbal disputes or attempts at mental domination.
Of course, all this can have an upside as well. The Neptune-Mercury square could also be the dynamic engagement of intuitive flow into your conscious mind. Giving or receiving mentoring can be energized by the Mercury-Chiron square, which is exact today. And the Mars-Mercury square could simply manifest as increased energy and enthusiasm for communication. As with all things astrological, how you choose to harness these energies has a major impact on how they manifest!
Mercury has plenty going on with this T-square, but its love of multitasking and variety is going over the top today! For starters, it enters Gemini, which it will transit through 6/25. Mercury rules this sign, and while in it will radiate the energy of learning, communicating and “sticking 10 different fingers into 10 different pies.”
Mercury also sextiles Uranus and Jupiter today, helping you keep a positive mental attitude and making the mind more receptive to intuitive flashes.

6/11 (Fri). Mercury squares Mars today; see the 6/10 T-square entry for details.

6/12 (Sat). The June New Moon occurs at 7:14 AM (22° Gemini). New beginnings in learning, teaching, speaking, writing and other mental activities are supported, as are new initiatives with siblings and neighbors.

“Dancing couples in a harvest festival” is this New Moon's Sabian Symbol. This resonates beautifully with Gemini's energy of pairing, as well as its love of sociability. It's also a timely reminder, in this time of unprecedented paradigm shift, of the importance of community. It also reminds us of the magnificent harvest awaiting us at the end of this challenging process: a world that has reclaimed the sacred and honors its “all one” interconnectedness.
A Venus-Saturn sextile is good for relationship stability, artistic productivity and dealing realistically with your financial situation.
Finally, Mercury quincunxes Pluto, an ideal energy under which to surrender outdated paradigms and give birth to new ones!

6/13 (Sun). A Yod, or “Finger of God,” has been building since the 11th, and both peaks and ends today. This aspect pattern consists of three planets: in the current incarnation, Venus sextiles (60°) Saturn on the back end, with both planets making quincunxes (150°) to Neptune at the tip of the yod's narrow triangle.
This Yod is tailor-made for activating the Law of Attraction for financial prosperity. Neptune rules imagination and visualization, Saturn rules physical manifestation, and Venus represents money! You can also use your manifestation power for relationships and creativity, Venus' other main themes.

6/14 (Mon). Venus enters Leo today through 7/10. Think drama, showmanship and sequins!
The Love Goddess is also trining Uranus, opening the door for intuitive flashes to guide your relationships, creativity and finance.
It's all about Venus today: she also quincunxes Chiron. Should your relating uncover any sensitive psychological areas, take the opportunity to heal them.

6/15 (Tue).
Venus continues her aspect run with a trine to Jupiter. Luck can be with you, especially if you follow your intuitive flashes!
Appropriate sexual activity is smoothly supported with Virgoan Mars trine Pluto, as are all physically focused activities and carefully planned new initiatives.

6/16 (Wed). Let Spirit put its two cents' worth in before making decisions now: a Mercury-Uranus quintile stands ready to transmit intuitive flashes into your brain!

6/17 (Thu). With Venus quincunx Pluto, be open to recognizing and releasing whatever does not serve your key relationships. It's also an ideal time for any financial adjustments that are needed.

6/19 (Sat). With the Sun squaring Saturn (see the Grand Cross description on 6/24) and trining Neptune, a passive attitude could result in depression and spaciness. But a proactive combination of visualization and sweat equity could move you powerfully toward your goals. Be sure to make time to connect with Spirit!

6/21 (Mon). The Sun enters Cancer at 7:28 am. This is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, so celebrate! The Sun's passage through Cancer, which lasts through 7/22, is a good time to focus on nurturing, healing, food and domestic affairs.
Symptoms of a mismanaged Sun-Uranus square (also part of the Grand Cross described on 6/24) include nervousness, fidgeting and chaotic life events. The antidote? Vigorous exercise and, above all, following your intuitive flashes!

6/22 (Tue). A Sun-Chiron trine is a wonderful time to give or receive mentoring and healing. Creativity is also stimulated with Venus' biquintile to Pluto.

6/23 (Wed). Even if you feel like you can take on Mickey Rourke, don't mistake yourself for Iron Man: it may just be the overconfidence of a Sun-Jupiter square. (Also part of the Grand Cross described on 6/24.) Still, do put this abundant energy to good use!

6/24 (Thu). A GRAND CROSS, which can be an intensely challenging aspect pattern, is in effect the 21st thru the 26th, peaking today. This one packs a punch, with the Sun making hard angles to Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter and Saturn! Mercury is also part of this mighty aspect pattern the 24th to the 26 as it conjuncts the Sun.
Stand ready to jettison all physical and conceptual structures that don't serve your highest need, especially in domestic and family affairs. Good fortune is part of the mix, especially if you leave quiet time to receive the intuitive flashes which stand ready to guide you!
A Mercury-Saturn square is part of today's Grand Cross. Considered independently, it can support intense mental discipline as long as you're not letting someone else control would you can think or say!
Mercury is also trining Neptune, an energy of flowing creativity and easy divine connection.

6/25 (Fri). Mercury enters Cancer today through 7/9. Use its time there to make your communication more sensitive and nurturing.
Two of the Grand cross' aspects are exact today: Mercury square Uranus and the Sun opposing Pluto. See the 6/24 entry for details.
Mercury trines Chiron today, an ideal setup for mentoring and healing words.

6/26 (Sat). A Mercury-Jupiter square is great for mental stimulation; just be sure you're not talking someone's ear off! It's also part of the Grand Cross we've been discussing.
Speaking of the Grand Cross, you could hardly ask for a more dramatic ending to it than a
LUNAR ECLIPSE! This occurs at 7:30 am (5° Capricorn). Astronomically, this eclipse (which, by definition, is also a Full Moon) is no big deal, since it's only partial. But it's big news astrologically, since the Moon is tightly conjunct Pluto (death and rebirth), and the Moon makes challenging aspects to all of the other Grand Cross planets!
The energies laid down by eclipses last at least six months. Thus, this eclipse is helping to lay the energetic groundwork for the “Cardinal Climax” coming in early August. (The Cardinal Climax, a world-rocking “T-square”, will be the most powerful aspect pattern of our lifetimes! It will include the same slower planets aspecting this eclipse: Pluto, Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter.)
To make the best use of these energies, carefully analyze all of the key structures in your life: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Once you identify the ones which are not serving the highest need of all concerned, either repair them or release them. Let go of greed and embrace community. Release fear and embrace love. If you feel unable to do something from the personality level, remember that the divine can accomplish anything: ask Spirit to assist you!
        The
Sabian Symbol for this eclipse is, "Indians on the warpath. While some men row a well-filled canoe, others in it perform a war dance."
This resonates powerfully with the Sabian Symbol for last month's New Moon, which was,
“An Indian warrior riding fiercely, human scalps hanging from his belt.” My interpretation of that symbol was, "Think of the warrior as yourself racing toward your divinely guided destiny, and the scalps as the aspects of yourself which, Kali-like, had to be slain for you to grow into the full magnificence of your evolved self!"
        I
get a similar sense from today's "warpath" symbol, but on a more social level. It's easy to think of this symbol as literally meaning war between nations, and with so many tense spots around the world one can't rule out that possibility.
But this symbol doesn't have to manifest that way. Rather, we can choose to use the resources in our "well-filled canoe" -- our ingenuity, compassion, energy, physical and financial resources and desire to make a better world -- to wage war on humanity's common enemies. These include global warming, social injustice, the suicidal obsession with growth and profit without regard for its environmental and social cost, and the pernicious illusion that we are separate from our brothers and sisters in human, animal and plant bodies. Once one wakes up and experiences the unity and interdependence of all things, one loses the desire to do harm to other living beings. One "wages war" against ignorance and greed, with the purpose of creating peace, harmony and balance.

6/27 (Sun). June's final major aspect, Saturn quincunx Neptune, repeats this theme. Neptune-Saturn combinations can represent the dissolution of outmoded structures. But they can also stand for the conscious use of imagination, visualization and spiritual power (Neptune) to help make adjustments to old structures or create better ones. Come be part of the solution!
A Mercury-Pluto opposition can help take your thinking deep and transform it for the better.

6/28 (Mon). Two days remain in June, but today's Sun-Mercury conjunction in Cancer is the month's last significant aspect. This is an excellent energy for learning and all types of communication. If you've been holding back an important message, now is an excellent time to send it out with a healthy measure of nurturing, healing energy.

THE STORY SO FAR: Three planets are retrograde as May opens: Mercury (thru 5/11), Saturn (thru 5/30) and Pluto (thru 9/14).

5/2 (Sun).
The Saturn-Neptune quincunx which peaks today has already been in effect for a month, and will last through early August. Be sure to release old structures which have outlived their usefulness during this time, lest they be dissolved away against your will! Work with the law of attraction can be empowered during this time, and discipline applied to your spiritual and creative pursuits will be rewarded.

5/3 (Mon). Your mind has an enhanced ability to probe into the depths, alone or in conversation with others, with Mercury trine Pluto. Mercury's Taurean placement also makes this a good time for financial opportunities.

5/4 (Tue). With Venus quintile Uranus, let your creativity respond uninhibitedly to your intuitive flashes. Also stay open to Spirit's guidance in bringing about paradigm shifts in important relationships.
        Physical energy is abundant with
the Sun square Mars – expend it in exercise and productive activity rather than picking fights!
Communication and writing receive a lovely combination of inspiration and productivity with
Mercury biquintile Saturn.

5/7 (Fri). There's plenty of positive energy for relationships with Geminian Venus sextile Leonine Mars – with these planets in air and fire signs, affairs could even turn passionate! Creativity and harmonious initiation are also supported.

5/11 (Tue). Mercury retrograde ends on the 11th at 6:27 PM. Difficulties you may have been experiencing around travel, communications or technology should start easing up. However, wait until the New Moon on the 13th to start major new projects: they tend to to fare better when launched under a waxing Moon.

5/13 (Thu). May's New Moon occurs on the 13th at 9:04 PM (23°09' Taurus). New beginnings in finance, sensuality and relating with nature as a sentient intelligence (think Avatar) are supported. The aspects to this New Moon – a trine from Saturn, a square from Neptune and a sextile from Jupiter -- suggest that your new ventures will enjoy solid support and good fortune if you make Spirit an active partner!
        This New Moon's
Sabian Symbol is, “An Indian warrior riding fiercely, human scalps hanging from his belt.” Think of the warrior as yourself racing toward your divinely guided destiny, and the scalps as the aspects of yourself which, Kali-like, had to be slain for you to grow into the full magnificence of your evolved self!

5/17 (Mon). The most important things about your key relationships – be they flowing or challenging – may be spotlighted with Venus square Jupiter. This aspect could also make it easy to overdo things – especially with Venus in variety-loving Gemini! – so keep moderation in mind.
Physical energy, vitality and general exuberance will also be amplified with
the Sun sextile Jupiter.

Now that Mercury has turned direct, it will be repeating many of its recent aspects. The first example is its biquintile to Saturn, and the interpretation is the same as it was on 5/4: communication and writing receive a lovely combination of inspiration and productivity!

5/18 (Tue). Venus is part of two challenging aspect patterns from the 13th through the 23rd: a T-square peaking today and a Grand Cross peaking on the 21st. (The T-square includes Saturn opposing Jupiter and Uranus, with everybody squaring Venus!) If there's a weak point in any of your key relationships, it may will show itself during this time. Let your intuitive flashes tell you whether a given relationship needs to be released, transformed, or just taken to the next level of wonderfulness! Creativity will also be both energized and challenged.
Relationships may be particularly challenged right about now, with the T-square's
Venus-Saturn square exact today and its Venus-Uranus square exact tomorrow. Let whatever's coming up show you where a more solid foundation is needed in your partnerships. At the same time, with Venus trine Neptune, your ability to achieve profound soul-blending with those you're close to is easier than usual. The energy of steady productivity is also available, thanks to a Sun-Saturn trine.

5/19 (Wed). Does today's Sun-Neptune square have you craving altered states? Union with spirit and manifesting your divinely inspired creativity are two great ways to achieve them.
        Mercury trines Pluto
again today. As I said on 5/3, your mind has an enhanced ability to probe into the depths, either alone or in conversation with others. Mercury's Taurean placement also makes this a good time for financial opportunities.
        Today's
Venus-Uranus square is part of the T-square described on 5/18, and often has the specific effect of creating challenge wherever paradigm shift is needed in relationships. Trust your flashes of insight, but beware of impulsive financial decisions!
        Venus also enters Cancer
today, or she will stay through 6/13. Her placement here can help bring a soothing, nurturing quality to relationships and creativity.

5/20 (Thu). With all the challenge to relationships in the air, it's nice that they can also benefit from the healing and mentoring energy provided by a Venus-Chiron trine!
        The Sun enters Gemini
late on the 20th, radiating the energy of learning, sharing information, love of variety, eternal youth and tricksterism.
Intuitive flashes may be especially strong with
the Sun sextile Uranus; I've yet to meet a client who told me that they ultimately regretted following one!

5/21 (Fri). The Grand Cross mentioned on 5/18 peaks today; please refer back to that entry for its basic interpretation. With Venus now in Cancer, relationships with family and those with whom you live may be particularly affected.
        Moving counterclockwise,
the Grand Cross includes four squares: Venus-Saturn, Saturn-Pluto, Pluto-Uranus/Jupiter, and Uranus/Jupiter-Venus. Since a Grand Cross consists of four squares and two oppositions, it also includes a Venus-Pluto opposition and the opposition of Saturn to Jupiter and Uranus. The Grand Cross is considered the most powerful and challenging aspect pattern in astrology, so take it seriously. But also remember that the greatest challenges, when courageously faced, also provide the greatest opportunities for growth and empowerment!
As if a Grand Cross wasn't enough, there's also a
Sun-Chiron square today. It may help you see what most needs healing within yourself, and help provide energy for its return to wholeness.

5/23 (Sun). With Jupiter opposing Saturn (part of the Grand Cross) exactly today, you may feel torn between old established habits and the new directions your intuition is leading you. All of my experience suggests that the intuitive path will serve you better.
Another element of the Grand Cross, the
Venus-Pluto opposition, is also exact today. Its meaning has already been covered in the Grand Cross interpretation.

5/26 (Wed). While being open to self-transformational adjustment is one of today's themes (Sun quincunx Pluto), creative inspiration and divine connection is doubly emphasized (Mars biquintile Uranus and Mercury quintile Neptune).

5/27 (Thu). May's Full Moon shines forth on the 27th at 7:07 PM (7° Sagittarius). How satisfied are you with your activities in the realms of higher learning, foreign travel, philosophy and religion? This is the time to evaluate and adjust.
        This Full Moon's
Sabian Symbol is, “Cupid knocks at the door of a human heart.” At this extraordinary time in history, however, Cupid is offering not just human romantic love, but the indescribable bliss only available from the unconditional love of the divine. Can you open to it?
A major astrological event occurs today as
Uranus enters Aries. He remains thru 8/13 before retrograding back into Pisces, then re-enters Aries on 3/11/11 for a stay of about seven years.
The movement from Pisces to Aries is the transition from dreaming to doing. Thus, we are now entering the time when paradigm shifts, revolutions and breakthroughs on all levels will play out not just in our imaginations, but in the physical world. Another excellent way to use this energy is to take immediate action on your intuitive flashes!

5/28 (Fri). A Jupiter-Neptune semi-sextile may create some irritation if your religious path doesn't support a divine connection you can feel for yourself. Excessive idealization and deceptive illusions are also possible, so be sure to reality check anything that seems too good to be true.
It's a good day to refine your writing and your critical thinking with
Mercury quintile Chiron.

5/30 (Sun). Saturn turns direct today at 2:09 PM, making it easier to begin new business-related projects. Those with Saturn strong in their natal charts will breathe a special sigh of relief.

5/31 (Mon). Neptune turns retrograde today, an excellent time for meditation, expressing divinely inspired creativity, or flowing divine light to others.

THE STORY SO FAR: Saturn remains retrograde thru May 30.

April 1-10, the door is open to new financial possibilities. Stay open to synchronicity and intuitive guidance to maximize your opportunities!

Detailed Forecast

4/1 (Thurs). Creativity and divine connection are made easier through mid-April with Jupiter quintile Pluto. This can also be a good time for financial dealings, especially if you bring in the power of visualization!
With Mercury sextile Chiron, giving or receiving helpful advice is supported.

4/2 (Fri). Mercury will be in Taurus today through 6/9. Turning your mind to money matters, sensuality and connecting with the earth should be easier during this time. Mercury's unusually long stint in Taurus is due to its upcoming retrograde, 4/18 through 5/11, which takes place entirely in the sign of the bull.
Mercury is also quincunx Saturn: don't be surprised if a mental challenge or two comes your way!

4/3 (Sat). At first blush, A Venus-Mars square might bring a lovers' spat mind to mind. However, when consciously channeled, this aspect can heighten the excitement in your relationship, intensify erotic electricity, and energize creative inspiration for artists of all types.

4/4 (Sun). Venus square Mars yesterday, Venus trine Pluto today! Both Mars and Pluto carry a sexual charge, so that theme continues. A new energy Pluto brings to the party is flowing transformation, so look at what positive change you can bring to your important relationships.

4/5 (Mon). Arguments and confrontations are more likely with Mercury square Mars – particularly with Mercury in stubborn Taurus and Mars in fiery Leo! Resolve instead to keep your discussions vibrant but controlled.
Creative inspiration should flow more easily with Venus biquintile Saturn.

4/6 (Tue). Pluto, the planet of death, rebirth and empowerment, is retrograde today thru 9/14. It's always especially potent when changing directions, so think in terms of releasing or transforming whatever isn't harmonious or helpful. Sensitive points in your natal chart around 5° of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) will be affected by Pluto's station.
Pluto trines Mercury as it turns, encouraging a harmonious flow of deep thought and communication.

4/7 (Wed). Saturn will backpedal into Virgo today and stay through 7/21 (before an extended journey through Libra thru 10/6/2012). Saturn in Virgo is a great time for setting up or fine-tuning systems, procedures and habits in both your personal and professional life. A focus on service or healing is also supported.

4/8 (Thu). Creative magic is in the air as the two planets most associated with creativity make a magical connection (Venus quintile Neptune). This energy is also great for connecting with your divine source and feeling the divine in the beings around you.

4/9 (Fri). Venus quintiles Chiron today, adding the energy of refinement and precision to the inspiration already in the air.

4/10 (Sat). Be on the lookout for dark emotions such as anger and jealousy as Leonine Mars quincunxes Pluto. Intense exercise, soul-deep sexuality and dramatic expression are a few ways to make good use of this energy.
A Mercury-Neptune quintile puts creative energy in the air, particularly as it relates to writing and verbal communication.

4/12 (Mon). Be ready to deal with any unresolved psychological issues around the 12th (Saturn quincunx Chiron). Fresh wounding is also possible under this energy, so avoid unnecessary risks. This is a long-lasting energetic connection – all the way thru early August – so also be mindful of its upside: traditional healing opportunities, making adjustments based on the advice of “wise elders,” and using discipline to hone self-perfection.

4/13 (Tue). The two planets that rule intuition make an exact connection on the 13th (Uranus semi-sextile Neptune), so leave yourself enough quiet time that you can hear that small still voice. Trying a new approach to connecting with Spirit, or innovating within your current path, is also supported. This is another long-term opportunity, since these planets will stay connected for 12 more months!
Your chance to be more of a mental maverick is up with
Mercury quintile Chiron. Gaining inspiration through meetings with mentors is also supported.

4/14 (Wed). April's New Moon occurs on the 14th at 8:29 AM ( 25° Aries). This is an especially powerful time for new beginnings of all kinds, including those relating to your physical body and the first impression yo give to others.
        The
Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is, “The possibility for man to gain experience at two levels of being.” I and many others know from personal experience that it is possible to be simultaneously conscious in the physical and spiritual realms. If you will open to this possibility and ask for the ability, you can be synchronistically guided to have this experience for yourself!

4/17 (Sat). Good fortune in love and money comes easier with Venus sextile Jupiter.

4/18 (Sun). With the Sun sextile Neptune, creative inspiration and easier connection with your divine source are enhanced.

Mercury goes retrograde today at 12:06 AM (13° Taurus), remaining in reverse through 5/11 at 6:27 PM (3° Taurus). Mercury retrograde is a better time for planning and introspection than for initiating new projects. Reflecting on the Taurean themes of self-esteem, sensuality, finances and connection with nature are supported during this Mercury retrograde. Be especially careful when traveling, and make sure that your valuable data is safely backed up.

4/19 (Mon). An aspect pattern called a Yod, or “Finger of God,” peaks today. (It's effective 4/16 thru 4/20.) It includes the Sun, Neptune, Chiron and Saturn. One great way to use this combination of planets is by visualizing what you desire. Neptune rules imagination and the etheric realms, Saturn loves to bring energy into form, and the Sun makes it personal.

4/20 (Tue). The Sun is in Taurus today thru 5/20, a great time for focusing on the Taurean themes in the 4/18 entry.
        Also today,
Chiron enters Pisces for an initial visit through 7/19. Energy healing and spiritual mentoring (possibly from your own higher self!) are both energized during this period.

4/21 (Wed). Now that Mercury is retrograde, it will be repeating many of the aspects it recently made. One of these is today's quintile to Chiron; see the 4/13 entry for details.

4/22 (Thu). Relationships and creativity are magically energized with Venus quintile Mars.

4/23 (Fri). Venus is in a hot zone as she squares Neptune and sextiles Uranus. Because of Neptune, watch out for deception or rose-colored glasses in relationships, but also stay open to the possibility of soul-deep connections. Let your intuitive flashes guide you. Creatively, both aspects open the door to the flow and flash of divine inspiration!

4/24 (Sat). Venus aspects two more slow planets today! Her trine to Saturn can lend stability to relationships, creative expression and finances, while her biquintile to Pluto can both empower creativity and help create new financial possibilities.

4/25 (Sun). Venus is on quite the roll lately: today she squares Chiron and enters Gemini! The square to Chiron presents the opportunity for healing, whether that refers to the relationship itself or old wounds that it's bringing up. And her tenure in Gemini, thru 5/19, can encourage a broad range of socializing and creative eclecticism. (Verbal or written creativity is especially supported by a Mercury-Neptune quintile.)
Arguments or fiery differences of opinion can be stoked by a
Mercury-Mars square, so work to stay harmonious even if you're passionate about your ideas. And a Sun-Pluto trine can be a fantastic energizer for whatever needs doing.
There's also plenty of fairy dust in the air, thanks to a
Golden Yod configuration formed by Venus, Mars and Pluto. (It's active 4/23-25, and peaks today.) This can bring magical empowerment to relationships, and is great for sacred sexuality where appropriate.

4/26 (Mon). One of the major astrological events of the year happens today: Saturn opposing Uranus! This is the fourth such occurrence in a series of five that started on election day (11/4/08) and will have its final exact alignment on 7/26.
The effect of this dynamic opposition, which lasts about two years, is an epic battle between the outworn status quo and the new paradigm that has come to replace it. One need look no further than Washington, with Republicans and Democrats seemingly locked into opposing positions on health care reform (and just about everything else) for a classic example of this dynamic at play. Willingly embracing new paradigms in your own life when their time has come will make your own experience of this energy far less stressful!

4/28 (Wed). April's Full Moon occurs on the 28th at 8:18 AM (9° Scorpio). Use it to take stock of how you're doing with your shared resources, committed romantic relationship(s), psychological explorations, occult practices and research projects. Emotions may run unusually high, even for a Full Moon, because of the challenging aspects to the Moon from Mars, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter. You may feel a strong urge to make changes now, but wait two weeks for the next waxing moon if you possibly can.
        The
Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is, “A dentist at work.” I frankly don't know what to make of this – and that's the tooth!
Mental activity of all kinds is supported by today's
Sun-Mercury conjunction.

4/29 (Thu). Relationship challenge is par for the course with Venus quincunx Pluto. If things get a bit stressful, view it as an opportunity to introduce needed transformation into the relationship.

4/29 & 4/30 (Thu & Fri). April ends with more fairy dust to inspire your creativity and divine connection (Venus quintile Jupiter on the 29th, and the Sun quintile Neptune on the 30th).

3/31, 8:14 am - 8:42 am (Scorpio)

THE STORY SO FAR: We have two retrograde planets right now: Mars thru March 10 and Saturn thru May 30.

Detailed Forecasts

3/1 (Mon). Mercury is in Pisces the 1st thru the 17th . Any mental fuzziness is more than offset by the opportunity for your mind to receive a flowing waterfall of intuitive information!
Arguments or disagreements can sometimes flare with
Mercury quincunx Mars (today) and Saturn (tomorrow). Instead, use this energy to energize productive and disciplined mental activities.

3/2 (Tue). The Law of Attraction is magically empowered now through mid-March, thanks to Saturn's biquntile to Neptune. This is a great opportunity to bring some inspiring change into your life!

3/3 (Wed). With Venus conjunct Uranus, excitement and innovation trump predictability in relationships, creativity and finance. Also be sure to follow any intuitive flashes you get in these areas.

3/4 (Thu). Mental spelunking – taking your mind into the depths, alone or with others – is supported with Mercury sextile Pluto.

3/5 (Fri). Creative thinking is energized with Mercury biquintile Mars.

3/7 (Sun). Kicking off relationships and creative projects (or injecting new energy into them)  is supported now thru the 31st with Venus in Aries.
Passionate fire between lovers can ignite easily with
Venus trine Mars. Creative energy also runs strong.
Mental energy is powerfully stimulated with
Mercury conjunct Jupiter. Be careful that your mouth isn't running ahead of your brain!

3/9 (Tue). With Venus opposing Saturn, it's reality check time for all important relationships – romantic or platonic. Give more energy to the ones that are helping you move your goals forward, and which have (or can develop) a solid foundation. This energy can also help you be a Steady Eddie creatively, once you push past your initial inertia!

3/10 (Wed). Make good use of the mental boost provided by today's Mercury-Pluto quintile.

Mars, who reverses course about every 18 months, goes direct today after being retrograde since 12/20. This has been a good time to contemplate how you express aggression, sexuality, and leadership. Now, however, it's time to take your new insights and put them into action!

3/11 (Thu). Do you fully own your share of the power in your relationships, or have you surrendered it? As Venus squares Pluto, your life events may show you. This is also a powerful (and volatile) time for sacred sexuality and financial empowerment.

3/14 (Sun). Intellectual activities of all kinds are powerfully energized as the Sun conjuncts Mercury.

3/15 (Mon). There's a New Moon on the 15th at 5:01 PM (26° Pisces). New beginnings in spirituality, divinely inspired creativity, and flowing divine energy to others are supported. Your brain's ability to receive intuitive flashes is significantly energized, so be sure to ask for divine guidance in all of your decision-making. (And leave enough quiet space in your brain so that you can hear the answer!) You may feel some resistance to doing this, but persevere: your efforts will be rewarded!
        Synchronistically, the
Sabian Symbol for this New Moon refers to one: “A New Moon reveals that it's time for people to go ahead with their different projects.” The key word here is “different”: are you pouring your precious energy into someone else's vision when your intuition is calling you to blaze your own trail?

3/17 (Wed). What's a good remedy if the Sun-Uranus conjunction has you feeling erratic energy or unpredictable vitality? Follow your intuitive flashes, and dare to embody and express who you really are!

Mercury is in Aries 3/17 through 4/2, stimulating new or revitalized energy in learning and communication. These same manifestations are given an extra boost today, due to Mercury's trine to Mars.

3/18 (Thu). Watch out for communication challenges, both in your interpersonal dealings and with technology, as Mercury opposes Saturn. Confrontational language could backfire on you now. If you haven't backed up your critical data recently, you'd be wise to do so before the 18th.

3/20 (Sat). Spring arrives on the 20th as the Sun enters Aries, radiating initiation, sexuality and assertiveness. Mercury also squares Pluto today: rather than using words as weapons, turn your mind to research or diving into the depths of psychology or occult practice.

3/21 (Sun). You may feel as if you're driving the brakes on around the 21st: there's a sense of abundant energy with the Sun trine Mars, but forward motion may feel impeded with the Sun opposing Saturn! If you really need to get something done, determined persistence may see you through. Getting involved with a project may also lift any sense of melancholy you may be feeling.

3/22 (Mon). The brakes come off as Mars sextiles Saturn. In fact, you may feel a bit like the Energizer Bunny!

3/25 (Thu). Have you, like Michael Jackson's “Man in the Mirror,” been wanting to make a change? With a Sun-Pluto square calling out for core-level transformation, now's a great time to do it!

3/29 (Mon). The Full Moon on the 29th (10:25 PM; 10° Libra), which conjoins Saturn and squares Pluto, may show you the state of your important relationships by bringing up any unresolved challenges. Release any relationships that have outlived their usefulness, and focus on any transformation required by the rest.
        This lunation's
Sabian Symbol is, “Having passed safely through narrow rapids, a canoe reaches calm waters.” Much like the famous phrase, “This too shall pass,” this symbol reminds us that, once our moment of testing is over, a period of respite and rejuvenation awaits.

3/30 (Tue). With Venus sextile Chiron, keep an eye out for people who may be able to offer you healing or wisdom – or to whom you can bequeath these gifts.

3/31 (Wed). You may want to drift into wishful thinking with Mercury sextile Neptune. But, with Venus quincunx Saturn, it's important that you stay focused on any adjustments required by your important relationships.

Venus will also be in Taurus today through 4/24, radiating the energy of tranquility, harmony and sensuality.

2/6, 11:12a – 7:04p (Sagittarius)
2/8, 11:59p – 2/9, 5:44a (Capricorn)
2/11, 7:39a – 6:24p (Aquarius)

2/25, 12:49p – 8:09p (Leo)
2/27, 3:16p – 7:53p (Virgo)

THE STORY SO FAR: We have two retrograde planets right now: Mars thru March 10 and Saturn thru May 30.
        Throughout February, a slowly separating
Saturn-Pluto square asks us to release all structures that have outlived their usefulness. If in doubt, throw it out!

2/2 (Tue). Relationship stress is a possibility as Venus makes minor hard angles to Saturn (a 135-degree sesquiquadrate) and Pluto (a 45-degree semi-square). But facing any such challenges with an openness to positive transformation (Pluto) and the creation of more balanced and harmonious relational structures (Saturn in Libra) can help you emerge with your relationship in even better shape!

2/5 (Fri). Business matters may require adjustment as the two “social” planets – Jupiter and Saturn, which are central to business astrology – form a 150-degree quincunx. And since Jupiter (religion, philosophy and ideals) is in Pisces (divine union), it's also a good time to evaluate whether your approach to “life, the universe and everything” is giving you the consistent access to ecstatic bliss and intuitive guidance that is every human's birthright.

2/6 (Sat). Receiving intuitive flashes (Uranus) – especially regarding practical affairs (sextile Mercury in Capricorn) – is supported now.
With Jupiter sextile Pluto, generating wealth is empowered thru the 20th, but strongest around the 6th – especially if you use the Law of Attraction. This aspect can also empower your spiritual growth, but beware of getting your ego caught in the One True Path Syndrome!

2/7 (Sun). Taking an innovative approach to relationships, finance and creativity could help heal old wounds in these areas (Venus conjunct Chiron in Aquarius). This aspect is also ideal for mentorship and one-on-one healing modalities – especially those outside the mainstream!

2/8 (Mon). Personal creativity and divine inspiration blend as Venus conjuncts Neptune. (Neptune is Venus' higher octave.) This is also an ideal energy for blending with other beings on the soul level, or merging into divine bliss. But also beware of overidealizing a relationship or getting suckered financially!

2/9 (Tue). industrious creativity and practical inspirations to improve relationships are enhanced with Venus biquintile Saturn.

2/10 (Wed). Mercury is in Aquarius today through 3/1, a good time for receiving intuitive flashes and exploring the unconventional.
If you find that your anger or aggression are getting out of hand, redirect the energy of the Mars-Jupiter quincunx (in Leo and Pisces) into exercise, physical activity, robust creative expression or sacred sexuality.

2/11 (Thu). With Venus in Pisces today through 3/6, all the opportunities and cautions described on 2/8 also apply (albeit less intensely).

2/12 (Fri). Don't let the violence and rage gremlins get you – they'll be out in force with Leonine Mars quincunx Pluto! Focus on creativity, sex or exercise instead.
With Mercury trine Saturn, an energized but steady mental focus is also in the air – possibly peppered with the occasional flash of insight!

2/13 (Sat). We're certainly getting our share of challenging transits this week: with Mercury opposing Mars, arguments are a definite possibility. Putting that fiery Martian energy into harmonious and productive communication channels will make it happier!
        February's
New Moon is on the 13th at 9:51 pm (26° Aquarius) – time for new beginnings in individuation, ingenuity, group involvement and “letting your freak flag fly”! With the Moon and Sun tightly conjunct Neptune and Chiron, initiation or re-energizing of spiritual healing, mentoring and divine union are also powerfully supported.

This New Moon's Sabian Symbol is, “A garage man testing a car's battery with a hydrometer. So how charged up is your power source? Given this New Moon's energies, it would seem to suggest that drawing power directly from the divine is a great way to keep your battery's power cells topped up!

2/14 (Sun). Valentine's Day offers the potential for both significant discord (Venus quincunx Saturn and Mars), as well as deep healing and ecstatic soul union (Sun conjunct Chiron and Neptune). What you experience will have a lot to do with whether you've dealt with any unresolved conflicts before the big day arrives!

2/15 (Mon). With Venus sextile Pluto and Mars sextile Saturn, flowing, sustained sexuality is beautifully supported. (Valentine's Day should have come a day later!) Enhanced creativity and Energizer Bunny endurance is also supported by these planetary combinations.

2/16 (Tue). Valentine's Day two days later? With the powerful relationship spotlight created by a Venus-Jupiter conjunction, it would have fit beautifully! This Piscean union also supports enhanced creativity.

2/17 (Wed). With Neptune and Chiron keeping close company in late Aquarius, the energy of spiritual healing and mentorship is strong all year. However, it's particularly potent several weeks before and after today's exact conjunction. This is also a powerful time to refine your creative inspirations.

2/18 (Thu). The Pisces Sun radiates the energy of unity, divinely inspired creativity and unconditional love today thru 3/18.

2/20 (Sat). One can feel energized to the point of irritability with the Sun quincunx Mars. Plan to do something productive with all this energy!

2/21 (Sun). Adjustments may be required to negotiate obstacles that arise as the Piscean Sun quincunxes Saturn. However, Saturn (manifestation) aspecting a planet in Pisces (visualization) can empower your use of the Law of Manifestation!

2/23 (Tue). Enjoy easy-flowing vitality, sexuality and transformation as the Sun sextiles Pluto. With the Sun in Pisces, spirituality and divinely inspired creativity are also energized.

2/24 (Wed). Watch for a creativity boost as Venus quintiles Pluto. You may also get some fresh ideas about how to positively transform important relationships.

2/25 (Thu). Creatively inspiring energy continues today, but from two different planets: the Piscean Sun biquintiling Leonine Mars.

2/27 (Sat). Rational clarity might grow fuzzy as Mercury conjuncts Neptune in Aquarius, but you can compensate by opening your mind to intuitive flashes and flows instead. This aspect also keeps the creative juices flowing (along with two new biquintiles today).
With Mercury also conjunct Chiron, this is a great time to focus on mentoring and healing.

2/28 (Sun). New hope and possibility is in the air as the Sun conjuncts Jupiter. Have a celebration!
        There's also a
Full Moon on the 28th at 11:38 AM (10° Virgo). Evaluate and adjust your habits, procedures and service modalities. (Your service should make you happy too!) With Jupiter tightly opposing the Moon, this lunation may affect people's emotions more powerfully than usual.
This Full Moon's Sabian Symbol is, “Two heads looking out and beyond the shadows.” When allowing its dark side to dominate, Virgoan energy can become overly comfortable with denigrating itself – keeping to the shadows (literally or metaphorically) when it could be stepping into the light, sacrificing itself unnecessarily to avoid displeasing others.
The fact that this symbol has two heads peering out could imply the desirability of interdependence. It's a lot easier to break out of such a limitation when you have someone else to help you. So, even if you feel unworthy of imposing, at this Full Moon consider asking for help in moving more fully out of the shadows and into the light.

1/31, 1:27 am - 8:24 am (Virgo)

THE STORY SO FAR: Throughout January and February (and peaking on 1/31), a Saturn-Pluto square asks us to release all structures that have outlived their usefulness. If in doubt, throw it out!

1/1 (Fri). Your business affairs could be creatively energized by Uranus quintiling the Capricornian Sun. Following your intuitive flashes is the key!

1/3 (Sun). Your creative muse should be singing loud and clear with Venus quintile Uranus. And Venus' placement in Capricorn should give you the gumption to get the creative work done!

1/4 (Mon). With the Sun conjunct Mercury, learning and communication are strongly supported around the 4th. This is especially true in practical and business matters, since the conjunction is in Capricorn.
Inspiration in creativity and relationships is also supported by a Venus-Mars biquintile.

1/5 (Tue). Talking about relationship issues, as well as creative writing, are juiced by a Mercury-Venus conjunction.

1/6 (Wed). With Mercury quintile Uranus, pay special attention to your intuitive flashes.
You can give even the most pragmatic communications some creative flair today, with Mercury biquintile Leonine Mars.

1/7 (Thu). You may feel conflicting desires between workaholic productivity (Sun in Capricorn) and spontaneous playfulness (Mars in Leo). The quincunx that connects them (adjustment required) doesn't make the balancing act any easier. Maybe you could get a good day's work in, then let your inner child out to play after supper?

1/8 (Fri). With Venus quincunx Mars, focus on positive adjustments in your important relationships. Making time for creative expression could open up a wellspring of inspiration.
Letting intuitive flashes lead directly to action is encouraged by a Mars-Uranus biquintile.

1/11 (Mon). A Sun-Venus conjunction in Capricorn makes it easier to take a realistic look at relationships, creativity and finance. Special inspiration may also come your way around business matters, with Jupiter biquintiling Saturn.

1/13 (Wed). Intuitive flashes of all sorts should flow easily, especially around relationships and creativity (Venus and the Sun sextile Uranus).

Saturn is retrograde today thru May 30. He'll be backing through Libra thru April 7, asking us to reflect on how solid our foundations are in our key relationships, creativity and finances. The rest of his retrograde, in Virgo, is a good time to reality-check our habits and systems, as well as how effective and productive we're being in our daily work and service to others.

1/15 (Fri). A solar eclipse/New Moon occurs today at 2:11 AM (25° Capricorn). Solar eclipses are like New Moons on steroids, with effects lasting up to a year. With this one, focus on new beginnings in career, reputation and life purpose. Also take a look at relationships to make sure they're practical and productive (Moon conjunct Venus in Capricorn), and vow to stay attentive to your intuitive guidance (Moon conjunct North Node). The final eclipse aspect (Moon sextile Uranus) should make it easier to stay attuned to your intuitive flashes.
            The Sabian Symbol
for this event is “A nature spirit dancing in the iridescent mist of a waterfall.” At first blush it might seem strange that such a blatantly Piscean image is associated with a Capricornian degree. However, in the transformed world we are now evolving into, conscious awareness of supernatural phenomena will be widespread, and will have eminently practical applications. At the very least, let this image inspire you to keep your sense of wonder, imagination and playfulness alive.

Mercury goes direct at 11:52 am, clearing the way for the initiation of important projects and new ventures. But if you're one of those cautious types who prefers Mercury to be clear of its retrograde shadow, your green light day will be Feb. 3.

1/17 (Sun). Jupiter enters Pisces today – a rather big deal, since Jupiter's average stay in any given sign lasts about a year. So, through most of 2010, Let Jupiter's presence in Pisces encourage you to make religion less about mental concepts and more about direct spiritual experience.

1/18 (Mon). Venus will be in Aquarius today thru 2/11. Make space for intuitive flashes relating to relationships, creativity and finance, and be open to exploring unconventional approaches to these areas of life.

1/19 (Tue). Not to be outdone by Venus, the Sun enters Aquarius late today. He also stays a week longer than Venus, thru 2/18. This is a time when intuitive flashes, unconventionality, paradigm shift, individuation and humanitarian service are all energized.

1/20 (Wed). Creative productivity gets a boost as Mercury in Capricorn biquintiles Mars in Leo.

1/22(Fri). Relationship stability and business opportunity are supported by a Venus-Saturn trine. Creative types can also really get the work out under this aspect!

1/24 (Sun). The Sun once again follows Venus' lead by trining Saturn. This aspect can help provide steady energy and physical vitality for whatever you need to accomplish.

1/25 (Mon). Communication is energized; a practical and flexible approach to your interactions will help minimize the possibility of heated disagreements (Capricornian Mercury quincunx Leonine Mars).

1/26 (Tue). With Mercury quintile Uranus, flashes of creative inspiration are available for those with receptive minds!

1/27 (Wed). With Venus opposing Mars, relationships want to be front and center. With Venus in volatile Aquarius and Mars in prideful Leo, conflict with those close to you is a definite possibility. But by focusing on clear, honest and compassionate communication, this opposition can generate positive passion and excitement instead!

1/28 (Thu). Creativity and sexuality -- not to mention creative sexuality -- get a boost from a Mars-Pluto quintile.

1/29 (Fri). With the high-energy planets Mars and the Aquarian Sun in opposition, abundant vitality is available -- especially if you're being true to your essential nature.

1/30 (Sat). A Full Moon shines forth on the 30th at 1:17 AM (10° Leo). Check how "full-filled" you are with your leadership, desire for recognition, creative fulfillment, playfulness and willingness to take risks. With the Moon conjunct Mars and opposing Venus, relationships may also be a major theme for the next two weeks.
This Full Moon's Sabian Symbol is, "Children play on a swing hanging from the branches of a huge oak tree." One could simply interpret this symbol as encouraging us to relax and have some fun with friends. But for me, it brings to mind something I learned last year.
I finally decided to change a lifelong pattern of excessive workaholism, and started making time to regularly have fun with others. To my surprise, more clients immediately started calling for astrology consultations! My light was shining more brightly because my inner child was happy, and this acted  as a natural prosperity magnet. What an enjoyable way to activate the Law of Attraction!
So, my "branching" out into more enjoyable group activity ("children play on a swing") resulted in enhanced financial stability ("a huge oak tree"). If your light is dimming because of all work and no play, you might give this strategy a try!

1/31 (Sun). A potent Saturn-Pluto square -- powerful since October 2009 and continuing its challenging influence thru mid-September 2010 -- comes exact today. This is like the Clash of the Titans, with two mighty opponents battling for supremacy. We can see its influence in the current healthcare debate, with Republicans and Democrats historically polarized. This aspect is also historically associated with both man-made and natural disasters, and was very much in influence when the devastating earthquake struck Haiti.
To make positive use of this energy, take a realistic and uncompromising look at everything in your life -- possessions, ideas, relationships, etc. -- that has outlived its usefulness (Saturn). If it can be changed and made positively useful again, then transform it (Pluto). But if it is no longer helpful, then let it go (Pluto again). If in doubt, throw it out! Create a void so that Spirit has the space to replace what you've released with something better.
2010 and the coming years will bring global transformation on an unprecedented scale, and we all need to be ready for light-speed change. Releasing everything you no longer need is an important step in being ready for these extraordinary times!

The overall "cosmic weather" affecting everyone

December 2009 Detailed Forecast
by Benjamin Bernstein

Whatever your sun sign, this forecast will help you choose how to best use each month’s astrological energies! Events are most powerful on the dates listed. However, their influence will be active for at least several days before and after. All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time zone.

While everyone is affected by these global transits, you will be most powerfully impacted when moving planets activate natal planets and other sensitive points in your birth chart.

VOID-OF-COURSE MOONS

It's best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during these times. "Business as usual" is the best strategy for these periods, which occur when the Moon has made its last major Ptolemaic aspect but has not yet moved into the next sign. THE STORY SO FAR:

As December opens, only one retrograde planet remains: Uranus, and him for less than a day!

The triple conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter, in effect thru next month, squeezes in for a final group hug Dec. 8-21. Uranus, now at 23° Pisces, is making a tight semi-sextile with Neptune thru May 2010, and continues to connect with Jupiter and Neptune through their mutual receptions.
This fusion of energies creates the opportunity for Spirit's light to pour through with extraordinary power. As it does, it can bring profound healing to the personal and societal wounds afflicting us all. Since free will allows any astrological setup to be used for good or ill, this intense energy can also breed fanaticism, delusion and insanity. (Not to mention a stock market bubble that most astrologers expect to burst any time now. According to savvy financial astrologers such as Ray Merriman -- and in the unanimous opinion of a recent panel of respected financial astrologers from around the world at the recent ISAR Astrology Conference -- this could cause the market to drop even lower than before. The panel didn't expect a full US market recovery until about 2020. For more on this, click here.)
Whatever the market does, you can do your part to help keep his energy on the high side by inviting in this light, allowing yourself to be transformed and uplifted by it, and sending it back out to the world on the wings of your healing prayers.

12/1 (Tue). Intuitive decision-making is supported with Mercury sextile Neptune.
Uranus, retrograde since 7/1, goes direct today at 23° Pisces. This will be especially potent if you have sensitive points around 23° Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius. (Pay attention to those intuitive flashes!) For the rest of us, Uranus direct can be used to shift from thinking about being unique, individuated and/or humanitarian to actually embodying those traits.
Venus is in Sagittarius today thru Christmas, radiating expansiveness and generosity in relationships and encouraging sky’s-the-limit creativity!

12/2 (Wed). There’s a FULL MOON today, the first of two in December, at 2:30 am (11° Gemini). Take stock of how you’re doing with learning, all forms of communication, eclecticism and tricksterism, and make adjustments as needed.
This Full Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “Newly opened lands offer the pioneer new opportunities for experience.” So, in the Geminian spirit of curiosity and eclecticism, venture forth into a quest for expanded possibilities!

12/3 (Thu). It’s a magical day for receiving divine inspiration, or for feeling deeply connected with Spirit (Sun quintile Neptune).

12/4 (Fri). Relationships benefit from the stabilizing energy of Venus’ sextile to Saturn. This is also a smooth and energizing financial transit (Venus = money, Saturn = business).

12/5 (Sat). Mercury will have an unusually long stay in Capricorn, today thru 2/9. This is because of its upcoming retrograde (12/26 thru 1/15), which will take place entirely within this most serious of signs. Accordingly, this will be a good period for focused and disciplined mental energy.

12/7 (Mon). Communication may get intense around now with Mercury conjunct Pluto, so try to steer clear of control freaks and power trippers. But this is a great time to do business, since Mercury = commerce, Pluto = wealth, and Capricorn = business. Or you can play detective and burrow down into the cold hard truth of a situation!
As Mercury squares Saturn, be mindful of those who would control your thoughts or words.
Healing, especially via alternative modalities, is especially empowered in the weeks around the 7th as Jupiter conjuncts Chiron.

12/9 (Wed). Artists can ride the creative wave that peaks as Venus quintiles both Chiron and Jupiter

12/10 (Thu). Enjoy a strong but harmonious Sun-trine-Mars energy boost. This is a great time for leadership and getting things done – especially if you can put your body in motion!

12/11 (Fri). Venus adds another quintile to her collection – this time to the singing muses of Neptune – to keep the creative inspiration flowing.

12/12 (Sat). On this first day of Hannukah, Jupiter is semi-sextile Uranus. Exploring alternative spiritual paths, or innovating within your current one(s), is energized in the weeks around the 12th.

12/13 (Sun). You might enjoy some extra agility and dexterity today – along with some inspiring intuitive flashes -- as Mercury makes a magical quintile to Uranus

12/14 (Mon). Feeling a little jittery? An effective remedy is to identify the intuitive flash you’re resisting (Sun square Uranus) and get with the program! Some of that extra energy you’re feeling, by the way, is coming from a Sun-Jupiter sextile

12/15 (Tue). An easy and energetic connection with your creative muse, or your Higher Self (or both!), is flowing (Sun sextile Neptune).

12/16 (Wed). December’s NEW MOON (25° Sagittarius) occurs today at 7:02 am. New starts in higher education, worldly expansion, and your philosophical worldview would be well-timed. But be sure to make your questing experiential and not just mental, particularly regarding the direct experience of spiritual energies (Moon sextile Neptune) and receptivity to intuitive flashes and flows (Moon square Uranus). If there seems to be a choice between maintaining harmony or daring to embrace transformation (Moon conjunct Venus and Pluto), think twice before opting for the status quo!
This New Moon’s Sabian Symbol is “A chubby boy on a hobby-horse.” I get the sense of a sheltered child, fantasizing about adventure from the safety of his bedroom. To the extent that we’re dreaming of an adventurous and mind-expanding life rather than living it, we all share something in common with him. In what area of life are you ready to dismount your imaginary steed and saddle up the real thing?

12/17 (Thu). Relationship harmony and creative flow are accentuated around the 17th by a Venus-Mars trine. With both planets in fire signs, this is also a wonderful energy for intimacy!

12/19 (Sat). Okay, says Venus’ square to Uranus, two days of relationship harmony is plenty. Now consider how you can paradigm shift your union to a new level!

12/20 (Sun). MARS, who reverses course about every 18 months, is RETROGRADE 12/20 thru 3/10. This is a good time to contemplate how you express aggression, sexuality, and leadership. New beginnings may gain traction more slowly during this period.
With Venus sextile Jupiter, relationships may feel lucky and a bit dreamy, while creativity is strongly boosted.

12/21 (Mon). Unity consciousness and creative inspiration are powerfully energized in the weeks around the 21st, thanks to a Jupiter-Neptune conjunction. (It will be 13 years before this conjunction comes around again.)
These same energies also get a shorter-term boost (days rather than weeks) from a Venus-Neptune sextile, which can also help harmonize and spiritualize important relationships.
The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st, radiating the energy of seriousness, discipline and accomplishment thru 1/19.

12/24 (Thu). Prepare for an intense Christmas Eve, due to a potent conjunction between the Sun and Pluto! Steer toward heartfelt soul-baring rather than pointless power struggles.

12/25 (Fri). The sky energy on Christmas Day is actually rather serious, with social Venus entering the no-nonsense sign of Capricorn, and the Sun's energy restricted by a square to Saturn. This energy is good for planning and organizing, but it might take a little extra effort to generate holiday cheer. At least the Moon will be in Aries, which will help generate some warmth and energy!

12/26 (Sat). MERCURY IS RETROGRADE today at 9:38 am thru 1/15 at 11:52 am. (It held off until after Christmas, but landed on the first day of Kwanzaa instead!) Try to avoid starting important new projects during this time, and triple-check and back up everything to do with travel and technology. However, Mercury retrograde is always a wonderful time for contemplation and planning.

12/28 (Mon). Relationship transformation, sexuality and extreme creativity are potentiated by an intense Venus-Pluto conjunction. Its placement in Capricorn is also ideal for making money!

12/29 (Tue). Poor Venus just can't catch a break: yesterday she conjuncts Pluto, and today she squares Saturn! Venus-Saturn squares are well-known for bringing relationship challenge, but they also give you a chance to face and resolve any unresolved issues. If this process is successful, then Saturn can give a relationship a more stable foundation, or – to continue the construction metaphor – even add a new room onto the house!

12/31 (Thu). 2009 ends with a bang, with a LUNAR ECLIPSE that’s also December’s second FULL MOON. It occurs today at 2:12 pm (10°14' Cancer). This eclipse is like a Full Moon on steroids, and, like all eclipses, its effects could last up to a year.
This one asks how “full-filled” you are in your home life, emotional expression and happiness. Other themes include transformation or release of relationships that are not promoting your personal evolution (Moon opposing Venus), and embracing those who do not seek to control you, but serve as positive catalysts (Moon opposing Pluto). In addition, the Moon-Saturn square asks who is holding the authority cards in your life. If they're not in your hand, they're going to be played by someone else!

THE STORY SO FAR:

As November opens, our list of retrograde planets continues to dwindle. Only two remain: Neptune thru 11/2
and Uranus thru 12/1.

The astrological headline that won't go away -- the triple conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter, in effect May 2009 thru January 2010 -- has a new twist this month. After reaching its point of greatest spread in early October -- about 6-1/2 degrees -- it has started to tighten up again. (They will achieve their second tight huddle Dec. 8-21.) Uranus, now at 23° Pisces, is making a tight semi-sextile with Neptune thru May 2010, and continues to connect with Jupiter and Neptune through their mutual receptions.
(Not to mention a stock market bubble that most astrologers expect to burst in the late fall or early winter. According to savvy financial astrologers such as Ray Merriman -- and in the unanimous opinion of a recent panel of respected financial astrologers from around the world at the recent ISAR Astrology Conference -- this could cause the market to drop even lower than before. The panel didn't expect a full US market recovery until 2020. For more on this, click here.)
Whatever the market does, you can do your part to help keep his energy on the high side by inviting in this light, allowing yourself to be transformed and uplifted by it, and sending it back out to the world on the wings of your healing prayers.

11/1 (Sun). Keep a civil tongue around the 1st: with Scorpionic Mercury square Mars, arguments are more likely. However, mental activities of all kinds will be strongly stimulated.

11/2 (Mon). Venus makes two outer planet aspects today, quincunxing Uranus and trining Neptune. Therefore, be attentive to intuitive flashes and flows regarding relationships, creativity and finance, even if they require you to veer from your comfortable course.
November’s FULL MOON shines forth at 2:13 pm (11° Taurus). Make appropriate adjustments if you’re not completely “full-filled” in the areas of finance, sensuality, stick-to-it-iveness, “beingness” and your conscious connection to Mother Earth.
Additional Full Moon themes include being open to transformational information (Scorpionic Mercury opposing the Moon) and standing your ground against domineering people (Mars square the Moon).
This Full Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “A woman watering flowers in her garden.” This is a comfortably Taurean image, since Taurus rules gardening. But it certainly doesn’t make literal sense in most of the Northern Hemisphere, since in most of its gardens the flowers are shriveling and dying.
Therefore, this symbol would seem to resonate more internally, with the flowers representing the blossoming of consciousness. To continue the metaphor, the watering woman would stand for the nurturing attention we’re now being asked to give to our individual awakening. (Perhaps I’m thinking along these lines because, in many of my recent spiritual experiences, I have experienced some of my chakras bursting into bloom like beautiful flowers.)
Of course, this metaphor transcends the individual. The more each of us cultivates our inner beauty, the more we raise the vibration of the world by radiating this beautiful energy into it.

11/4  (Wed). Neptune goes direct today. This is a good time to start manifesting the dreams and visions you’ve been cultivating since late May, when it went retrograde. It’s also an excellent time to begin, or revitalize, a spiritual practice or creative project!

11/5 (Thu). Mental activities are energized by a Sun-Mercury conjunction.

11/6 (Fri). A magical and innovative spirit of creativity permeates the air, thanks to a Venus-Uranus biquintile.

11/7 (Sat). Immersing yourself into deeper levels of relationship connection and appropriate sexuality is supported 11/7 thru 12/1 as Venus passes through Scorpio. Tantra, anyone?

11/8 (Sun). Beware of overcommunicating around the 8th – it’s so easy to dominate a conversation with Mercury square Jupiter!

11/9 (Mon). Artistic empowerment, wealth-building and soul-deep relationship blending (including sacred sexuality) are all supported by a Venus-Pluto sextile.

11/10 (Tue). It’s a high-energy day with the Sun square Jupiter, but be careful not to overextend yourself. And Scorpionic Mercury’s square to Chiron could support research and meticulous detail work.

11/11 (Wed). If your thinking seems muddy (Mercury square Neptune), ask for intuitive flashes to guide you instead (Mercury trine Uranus).

11/13 (Fri). With the Sun square Chiron, you may tend to resist the counsel of even the wisest sage. Be sure to come back and reconsider any advice you may initially shrug off.

11/14 (Sat). A Sun-Uranus trine supports you expressing yourself more authentically and uniquely. It can also make it easier to catch intuitive flashes, so stay tuned within!

11/15 (Sun). A potent SATURN-PLUTO SQUARE is exact today, although its opening “power window” started in mid-October and lasts thru mid-March. It challenges us individually, and the world at large, to release any and all structures, relationships and things which have outlived their usefulness.
This aspect kick-starts an unprecedented multi-year period of global transformation which, while undeniably challenging, can ultimately usher in a new era of peace, love, compassion and planetary harmony. For more on this, download my free “Quantum Global Shift” MP3 and PowerPoint.
The 15th is also a great day to tune in to your Divine Source, since the Sun is square Neptune. But double-check important details, since spacing out could be all too easy!
Finally, Mercury enters Sagittarius today thru 12/5. This supports adventurous thinking, furthering your education and celebration!

11/16 (Mon). November’s NEW MOON is on the 16th at 2:13 pm (25° Scorpio). New starts in the realms of psychology, occult practice, sacred sexuality, research and resource blending are supported. Communicating the message(s) which you feel destined to share (Moon conjunct Mercury), and committing yourself to being guided moment by moment by your intuitive flashes and flows (Moon trine Uranus and square Neptune) are also energized.
This New Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “An X-Ray Photograph.” Since an X-Ray shows that which is normally hidden, it jibes nicely with the Scorpionic idea of things being underground or out of sight. So, at this New Moon, consider committing yourself to seeing the underlying truth in all areas of your life.

11/17 (Tue). It’s a good time for practical thinking and “taking care of business” with Mercury (ruler of thought and commerce) sextile Saturn (worldly accomplishment).

11/19 (Thu). Relationship fires go to high flame with the relationship planets Venus and Mars forming an intense square. You may find this energizing or challenging, depending on the state of your intimate relationship. Deep work of one kind or another is supported! Creative inspiration is also juiced.

11/20 (Fri). It’s a great time to think outside the box, with Mercury making an inspiring quintile to expansive Jupiter!

11/21 (Sat). The Sun is in Sagittarius today thru 12/20, radiating the energy of optimism, hope, celebration, and the endless quest for new experience and deeper understanding.

11/23 (Mon). Let your imagination roam freely, supported by Mercury’s quintile to fantasy-loving Neptune. Intuitive wisdom also shines brightly under this aspect.
With Venus square Jupiter, whatever’s going on in your key relationships – good, bad or in between -- gets spotlighted. This makes it a good time to gain a keener awareness of those dynamics.

11/24 (Tue). A Sun-Saturn sextile is great for productivity, accomplishment and all things serious.
Don’t be surprised if old relational wounds are activated by others, often unknowingly. Such healing opportunities are common when Venus squares Chiron

11/25 (Wed). However well things may be going in your creative expression and relationships, you can get fresh insights into how to shift them to a new level as Venus trines Uranus.

11/26 (Thu). Conversation could be energetic and lively at the Thanksgiving table with Sagittarian Mercury trine Leonine Mars! But take pains to make yourself clear, since a Venus-Neptune square can sow confusion in relationships. You may also feel an urgency to connect with your Higher Self or channel your muse’s inspiration.

11/29 (Sun). Reach out, reach out and text someone – or call or email or get together or Twitter – since this is a great time for communication in general (Mercury sextile Jupiter). Giving or receiving mentoring is also specifically supported, with Mercury sextile Chiron.

11/30 (Mon). With Mercury square Uranus, you may tend to resist your intuitive flashes even as they strike more frequently. But ask yourself: looking back with the wisdom of retrospect, do you regret ever having followed a true intuitive flash? I’ve asked that question of many clients, and not one has ever said yes!
The month ends on an upbeat note, with an uplifting, optimistic and inspiring Sun-Jupiter quintile. Do something that makes you feel good!

10/28, 3:23a - 3:46a (Pisces)
10/30, 12:56a - 1:57p (Aries)

THE STORY SO FAR:

As October opens, every planet from Jupiter out is retrograde except Saturn and Pluto: Jupiter thru 10/13, Chiron thru 10/25, Neptune thru 11/2
and Uranus thru 12/1.
The temporary dissipation continues in the energy of 2009’s most powerful astrological alignment
, in effect since May: the triple conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter. Jupiter has pulled back a bit more in the last month, and is now about 6-1/2 degrees away from Neptune. The three planets are still conjunct, and will remain so thru January, but won't regain their recent "oomph" until mid-November. But Uranus, now at 24° Pisces, is making a tight semi-sextile with Neptune, and is connecting with Jupiter and Neptune thru their mutual receptions.
NOTE: The rest of “The Story So Far” is unchanged from last month.
But even with this lull, this fusion of energies creates the opportunity for Spirit's light to pour through with extraordinary power. As it does, it can bring profound healing to the personal and societal wounds afflicting us all. Since free will allows any astrological setup to be used for good or ill, this intense energy can also breed fanaticism, delusion and insanity. (Not to mention a stock market bubble that most astrologers expect to burst this Fall. According to savvy financial astrologers such as Ray Merriman -- and in the unanimous opinion of a recent panel of respected financial astrologers from around the world at the recent ISAR Astrology Conference -- this could cause the market to drop even lower than before.)
Whatever the market does, you can do your part to help keep his energy on the high side by inviting in this light, allowing yourself to be transformed and uplifted by it, and sending it back out to the world on the wings of your healing prayers.

10/1 (Thu). A YOD, or “Finger of God,” peaks today and is active 9/27 thru 10/5. One meaning of this aspect pattern is about communication. Mercury (the messenger) in Virgo (being of service) is sextile Mars in Cancer (compassionate action), and both are “pointing” to Chiron in Aquarius (the paradigm-shifting giver of wisdom). Is there a message that you need to be delivering right now, or important information that you need to receive?

10/3 (Sat). Creativity, especially for writing and other mental activities, is enhanced by today’s Mercury-Jupiter biquintile.

10/4 (Sun). The 4th is an unusually busy sky day – buckle your seat belt!
On the FULL MOON (2:10 am, 11° Aries), gauge your “full-fillment” with how you’re expressing leadership, initiation, courage and sexuality, then make appropriate adjustments.
While there are no significant aspects to the Full Moon, its Sabian Symbol (rounded up to 12° Aries) is, “A triangularly shaped flight of wild geese.” To me, this suggests how leadership can help ease the way for others. Geese often fly in triangular patterns, which lets each bird face less wind resistance by flying in the wake of the one in front. During migration, different birds take turns flying in front.
So as you evaluate where you need to be boldly venturing into new territory, consider also whether partnering with others going the same way can help ease the journey for everyone.
Another Yod peaks today, and is active 9/30 thru 10/7. It has the same “back end” as the one which peaked on 10/1 – Mars and Mercury – but the tip now lines up on Neptune. This shifts the interpretation to focus on precise, heartfelt and passionate prayer, or on putting focused energy into meditation or other activities which help you receive energy or information from Spirit. Creative inspiration could also be abundant!
Two of today’s aspects (Neptune’s quincunxes to Mercury and Mars) are part of the yod just mentioned, and so I will not discuss them further. But that still leaves plenty to discuss!
Virgoan Venus’ quincunx to Jupiter focuses the Full Moon’s adjustment theme into relationships, creativity and money. Make the right adjustment and a good outcome may follow!
Uranus receives two aspects today: an opposition from Mercury and a trine from Mars. It’s hard to imagine a much better setup for receiving intuitive flashes into your brain (Mercury) and immediately acting on them (Mars).
Finally, Uranus makes a semi-sextile to Neptune, encouraging innovative approaches to merging with your divine source.

10/7 (Wed). Adjustment and refinement of relationships, creativity and finances are supported by a Venus-Chiron quincunx. (Plus, being in Virgo, Venus is in the mood for this sort of thing anyway!)

10/8 (Thu). Need mental focus? You’ll have it available with Mercury conjunct Saturn; just make sure you don’t let Saturn’s conservative nature cause you to reject new ideas out of hand.
With Mercury also biquintile Chiron, your mental focus may also be augmented with a touch of divine inspiration!

10/9 (Fri). It could be an intense time for relationships, with Venus receiving two challenging aspects. Her opposition to Uranus can throw things off kilter, but can also be used to receive intuitive flashes that could guide you through any rough patches.
However, Venus’ quincunx to Neptune could feel like a thick fog bank, making it hard to see what’s going on. Asking for the answer in meditation may prove more effective than trying to hash it out logically. Fortunately, Venus’ third aspect – a magical biquintile to Jupiter – might just shine a ray of sunlight through the fog.

It’s nice to note that Mercury enters Libra today, helping to open the lines of communication. The winged messenger also makes a biquintile to Neptune, helping to open receptive minds to the flow of intuitive insight.
With Venus significantly challenged, it’s a better day to talk about issues than to make final decisions. However, creative types should find abundant inspiration!

10/10 (Sat). A harmonious Sun-Jupiter trine is spreading joy and abundant vitality. But don’t waste all this great energy on arguments or confrontations, which could be easy to slip into with Mercury square Pluto! Consider using this hyped-up mental energy on research, self-reflection or soul-deep discussions instead.

10/11 (Sun). Take advantage of a creative boost as the Libran Sun receives an inspiring quintile from Pluto. With The Lord of That Which Cannot Be Discussed in Polite Society (But Needs to Be) in the game, dare to take a no-holds-barred approach to manifesting your inspiration!

10/12 (Mon). Ceres, planet of personal resources and “my stuff,” is in Scorpio, sign of great wealth, shared resources and OPM (Other People’s Money) today thru 12/20. Enhanced financial opportunity is in the air if you’re willing to embrace transformation and release whatever has outworn its usefulness.
Mars also sextiles Saturn, mixing drive with endurance. This sets up an “Energizer Bunny” vibe, so plan for productivity!

One thing that creative types can do with this enhanced vitality, combined with a Venus-Chiron biquintile, is fine-tune their masterpieces.

10/13 (Tue). It’s reality check time for important relationships of all kinds as Venus (important people in your life) conjuncts Saturn (is this situation realistic, productive and sustainable?). Stabilize the relationships with long-term potential and release (or de-emphasize) those that don’t fulfill a real need.
A Venus-Mars sextile puts additional emphasis on relationships, and radiates a harmonious energy that should make dialogue and connection easier in the midst of Saturn’s testing. Venus-Mars aspects are also great creativity stimulators!
Jupiter turns direct today, a good time to take the past few months’ reflections on philosophy, religion, higher learning and foreign travel and put them into action!

10/14 (Wed). Ceres radiates enhanced financial opportunity as it sextiles Pluto.
Venus, natural ruler of money, is also getting some nice contacts. For starters, she gains power as she enters Libra, one of the signs she rules. And her biquintile to Neptune makes her especially susceptible to visualization and other Law of Attraction activities. Relationships and creativity are also boosted by these positive Venusian contacts.

10/15 (Thu). Even though Venus entered one of her home signs yesterday, she’s not out of the woods. Today’s square to Pluto, two days after her conjunction to Saturn, can take whatever issues have been arising and blow them up even bigger. Examine what needs to be released or reoriented in your relationships, finances and creative expression. Once you’ve made those adjustments, Pluto is free to inundate you with its twin blessings: wealth and power! This is also an excellent time to practice sacred sexuality. (On this subject, I enthusiastically recommend Barbara Carrellas’ book Urban Tantra.)

10/16 (Fri). Mars enters Leo today for an unusually extended stay through June 6. He’s staying so long because of his upcoming retrograde, which starts on 12/20 and occurs entirely within the Sign of the Monarch. If you're called, this is a good time to venture boldly forth into leadership, enhanced playfulness, activities involving children (including your own inner child) and/or thrusting your creative gifts into the spotlight.
The Sun aspects two “god planets” today, quincunxing Uranus and trining Neptune. It might be well worth the effort to adjust your life to come into accordance with the intuitive flashes you receive around now, and merging with your Higher Self will be easier than usual. Imagination and creativity will also flow easily.

10/18 (Sun). October’s New Moon is on the 18th (1:33 am, 25° Libra), a great time for new beginnings in relationship, creativity and finance. This New Moon is heavily aspected: it’s receiving trines from Neptune and Chiron, a quincunx from Uranus and squares from the Nodes of the Moon.

Thus, as you plan and embark upon your new beginnings, you will have powerful guidance available from your intuitive flashes and flows. There may even be a sense of destiny: the feeling that the actions you undertake around this time are important in steering your course into greater harmony with your divine plan.
This New Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “The sight of an autumn leaf brings to a pilgrim the sudden revelation of the mystery of life and death.” For starters, this symbol is timely in an obvious way: in Ashville, NC, where I live, the leaves are now turning beautiful shades of red and yellow up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s also timely in a larger sense, since, with the unprecedented global changes now upon us – environmental, financial, social, and many more – we are truly all pilgrims venturing into an unknown future.

I believe that much of the reality we currently know will soon die as humanity launches into a wonderful and miraculous evolutionary leap forward. It is now very much time to let die all the ways in which we are limiting our personal growth and expansion, while opening to a new way of life that is breathtaking beyond our wildest dreams. This will probably seem impossible, until, thanks to the Sabian Symbol's “sudden revelation” that awaits each of us, it is clearly seen as inevitable.

As a reminder that even a transformation of such magnificence may well be accompanied by growing pains, we also have a Mars-Pluto quincunx. It’s a good day to practice your anger management skills, or to avoid those who haven’t practiced theirs! But if you can jujitsu past this aspect’s negative tendencies, it can provide tremendous energy for any endeavor. Energetic physical activity, including sacred sexuality, is especially well supported.

10/20 (Tue). With Libran Mercury trine Jupiter, mental activity and communication within your important relationships should flow easily.

10/21 (Wed). Cognition gets a powerful creative punch-up as Mercury quintiles Pluto! And the urge to express your Muse’s inspiration, or connect with your Higher Self, may keep niggling at you (Venus sesquiquadrate [135°, minor irritation] Neptune).

10/22 (Thu). Intuitive flashes, along with the desire to creatively express your quirkier side, are stimulated as the Sun biquintiles Uranus

10/23 (Fri). Consulting with wise advisors, or better organizing your own thoughts, is timely with Mercury trine Chiron.
The Sun is in Scorpio 10/23 thru 11/21, energizing psychology, research, the occult, and soul-deep sexuality.

10/24 (Sat). Libido burns brighter and transformation comes easier with the newly Scorpionic Sun sextile Pluto.
Mercury, the planet of rational mind, does a double today, quincunxing Uranus and trining Neptune. This makes your ability to “just know” stronger, and opens the doors wide for imagination and meditation.

10/26 (Mon). The Law of Attraction is embodied in two planets: Neptune (visualization, imagination) and Saturn (crystallization, physical manifestation). The magical biquintile between the two should make it a little easier to make your dreams real!

10/27 (Tue). Another biquintile – this time between Mercury and Uranus – makes it easier for the rational mind to receive flashes of divine intuition.

10/28 (Wed). Mercury enters Scorpio thru 11/15, supporting deep thought, probing discussions and the speaking of taboo truths. (Mercury also sextiles Pluto. This takes this energy to the next level, since Scorpio and Pluto embody the same archetypal energy.)
Venus also trines Jupiter. This harmonious connection between the two “benefics” can smooth the way in relationships, finance and creativity.

10/29 (Thu). With the Sun square Mars, watch your temper (and others’); try to channel this fiery energy into exercise, new projects or appropriate sexual expression rather than conflict.
Venus’ quintile to Mars can promote relational magic or creative drive.

SATURN ENTERS LIBRA today, where it will remain in a state of exaltation thru 10/5/2012 (except for revisiting Virgo 4/7/10 thru 7/22/10). This will likely manifest in many ways on the world stage, including enhanced productivity for creatives, a strengthening of conservative forces, relationship testing (and, for good ones, strengthening) and pragmatic negotiation.

10/30 (Fri). Creative inspiration, financial opportunity and relational deepening are all juiced by a Venus-Pluto quintile

10/31 (Sat). Chiron goes direct, showing that it’s time to move from reflection to action in the areas of healing and getting (or giving) wise counsel. And with Venus trine Chiron, healing and mentoring would be especially timely in the areas of relationship, creativity and finance.

9/30, 7:35a - 7:26p (Pisces)

THE STORY SO FAR:

New "Story So Far "Stuff: A challenging T-SQUARE, with Mercury squaring a Pluto-Mars opposition, kicked up back on 8/21 and peaked on 8/26. While it has passed its point of greatest intensity, its potential for conflict, violence and wounding words remains thru 9/3. Use this energy instead to speak difficult truths with love or empower new beginnings or nurturing loveplay!
As September opens, every planet from Jupiter out is retrograde except Saturn: Jupiter thru 10/13, Chiron thru 10/25, Uranus 12/1, Neptune thru 11/2 and Pluto thru 9/11.

A New Development in the Old "Story So Far": We're now seeing some temporary dissipation in the energy of 2009’s most powerful astrological alignment, which has been in effect since May: the triple conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter. Jupiter is pulling back, and is almost 5° away from Neptune. The three planets are still conjunct, and will remain so thru January, but won't regain their recent "oomph" until mid-November. But Uranus, now at 25° Pisces, is still connecting with Neptune and Chiron thru its semi-sextile (and with Jupiter and Neptune thru their mutual receptions).

9/1 (Tue). Creative inspiration and performance are juiced by today’s Venus-Pluto biquintile, as well as inspired sexual expression.

9/3 (Thu). The Pluto-Mars-Mercury T-Square (see “The Story So Far” above) fades out today, but with a bang rather than a whimper: the Mercury-Mars square which is part of it comes exact today! Even without Pluto, this difficult aspect can lead to squabbles and verbal duels. Remember that Mercury is in Libra (diplomacy) and Mars is in Cancer (nurturing), and strive to embody the higher qualities of these signs if an argument threatens.

9/4 (Fri). September’s FULL MOON shines forth today at 12:02 pm (12°15’ Pisces), a great time for taking stock of your spiritual unity practices, divinely inspired creativity of all kinds, and effectiveness as a channel for unconditional love. (Plus, amping up these practices can help tone down cravings for drugs and alcohol!)
With Venus quincunxing the Full Moon, also consider making any needed adjustments in your creativity and important relationships.
This Full Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “An ancient sword, used in many battles, is displayed in a museum.” Given the Pisces theme of unconditional love, one could interpret this symbol as encouraging us to give up our warlike ways and relegate weaponry to the place where such outworn relics of the past belong: a museum. The sword is kept on display, however, to remind us of the horrors of war. This will encourage us to avoid returning to our old barbarous ways.

9/7 (Mon). MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE today at 12:44 am, and remains in reverse thru the 29th at 9:13 am. Try to avoid starting major new projects during this time, and be extra-vigilant regarding clear communication. Travel and technology may experience challenges, so double-check everything and back up your critical data!

However, this is an excellent time to finish up things you've already started, and to do serious reflection and introspection.
Mercury is making hard aspects as it retrogrades – a
square to Mars and a sesquiquadrate to Chiron – so this Mercury retrograde may be more challenging than usual. All the more reason to heed the cautions above!

9/11 (Fri). Everything relationship-related, be it new beginnings or troublesome issues coming to a head, is stimulated today with Venus opposing Jupiter and biquintiling Uranus. Creativity, performance and ingenious solutions to relationship issues are also boosted.
With the Sun quincunx Jupiter, your reach may extend beyond your grasp. Be careful not to overdo it!
With Pluto stationing direct, the energy of death-and-rebirth is extremely potent now. Heal what can be healed, and release whatever has run its course.

9/12 (Sat). Reality vs. Illusion is a major theme of today’s Saturn-Neptune quincunx. Since these are slower-moving planets, this aspect has been strong since the last week of August and will stay strong thru the first week of October.
This is an ideal energy under which to take a cold hard look at your dreams and visions. Weed out the ones that prove unrealistic, then empower the ones that make the cut with emotionally empowered visualization and sweat equity. (These two planets embody the Law of Attraction: Neptune represents visualization and imagination, while Saturn embodies physical effort and material manifestation.)

9/13 (Sun). Jupiter adds good luck and optimism to your Law of Attraction work (see 9/12) with a magical, inspiring biquintile to Saturn.

9/14 (Mon). With Venus opposing Chiron, keep an eye out for mentors (or mentorship) opportunities, along with opportunities to refine your relationships and creativity.
A magical aspect pattern called a
GOLDEN YOD is active the 9th thru the 16th and peaks today. Golden Yods radiate the energy of magic, inspiration and easy connection to intuition and the divine.
Technical paragraph: A Golden Yod is a narrow triangle made up of a quintile (72°) and two biquintiles (144°). This one is more complex than most because it involves five planets! Over the course of several days, Mars is quintiling the Sun and Saturn, while all three of these planets make biquintiles to Neptune and Chiron.

Since this Golden Yod includes Saturn and Neptune, it adds extra magic to the Law of Attraction activities I suggested on 9/12.
Looked at in a different way, the presence of Chiron and Neptune at the tip of the triangle suggests a movement toward divine union, healing and wisdom. Having the Sun and Mars at the back end makes it personal and adds plenty of energy into the mix, while Saturn, also on the back end (near the Sun), adds a social planet into the mix.

So this Golden Yod is operating on all three astrological levels -- personal, social and transpersonal – which opens the door for you to enjoy its blessings on every level imaginable. The more you can relax and receive its gifts – which may well come in ways you can’t imagine – the greater your benefits will be!

9/15 (Tue). Today’s Mars-Saturn quintile is part of the Golden Yod (see 9/14). Unto itself, however, it can inspire and energize you in whatever work needs doing, and add a healthy dose of endurance into the mix.
But the biggest news of the day – indeed, of the entire month – is today’s
SATURN-URANUS OPPOSITION. The third in a series of five, its energy has been with us for about a year, and has about a year yet to go.
I wrote an article on the five Saturn-Uranus oppositions in the November 2008 newsletter – to read it, click here. Most of it, starting with the “Consistent Effects Throughout History” section, remains timely.
I also discuss this topic as part of my "Quantum Global Shift: An Astrologer Looks at 2009 thru 2012 and Beyond!" lecture, available as an MP3 with accompanying PowerPoint by clicking here.
This opposition fundamentally represents the tension between old and new, tradition and innovation. The series started with a bang: the first opposition was on US election day, when Obama was elected. It’s reaching its third crescendo at the height of the debate over US health care reform, but will also be reflected in innumerable other face-offs between “the way it’s always been done” versus “the way it needs to be now.”
In your own life, let your intuitive flashes guide you as to what old structures either need an overhaul or have outlived their usefulness. If ever there was a time to embrace paradigm shift, it’s now!
A third aspect that comes exact today is another opposition, between Venus and Neptune. These planets are an octave apart: Venus represents personality-based creativity and relationship, while Neptune is divinely inspired creativity and merging into oneness with the divine. (Or blending with the divine within another physical being, which is just another flavor of the same thing.)
A receptive attitude can open you to abundant creative inspiration under this aspect. For relationships, two extremes are possible: being deluded in your perception of someone else -- either through their deception or your own rose-colored glasses -- or merging into profound union. How you fare under this, or any other Neptune transit, has a lot to do with how connected you are with your own Higher Self and intuitive guidance.

9/16 (Wed). Financial opportunities are strong with Jupiter (abundance and good fortune) trine Ceres (money and resources). Just be sure to perform appropriate due diligence before proceeding!
With Venus quincunx Uranus, some adjustment in relationship or creativity may be timely.
Another quincunx – this one between the Sun and Neptune – could have a dissipative effect on your vitality. But putting Neptune to positive use – via a nice deep meditation, perhaps -- could remedy the situation.

9/17 (Thu). It’s a challenging day, with three difficult aspects occurring within seven hours!
Two of them happen because the Sun passes through the axis of the Saturn-Uranus opposition (see 9/15), opposing Uranus and then conjuncting Saturn. Many people will feel depressed and constricted, or crazy and volatile, or both! To avoid these extremes, tune in to your intuitive flashes (Uranus) and do the physical work (Saturn) necessary to implement them.
With Mercury square Pluto, some people may be prone to torrents of verbal abuse. Please consider in-depth research or considerate but honest truth-telling as more harmonious alternatives.
Mercury also retrogrades from Libra back into Virgo. It will remain there thru 10/9, amping up the energy of analytical rigor and service.

9/18 (Fri).
September’s NEW MOON, at 2:44 pm (26° Virgo), is usually a great time for new starts in the areas of health, habits, and service to others (in ways that make the best use of your unique abilities). For maximum effectiveness, though, wait until Mercury goes direct (9/29, 9:13 am) to start anything major!
This New Moon lines up smack on the Saturn-Uranus opposition axis, on the Saturn side. As if that wasn’t enough, the New Moon conjuncts Mercury, squares Pluto, quincunxes Neptune, and makes soft aspects to the Nodes of the Moon!
In plain English, this means that the next two weeks may be unusually challenging – if you just operate on the personality level. However, all three “god planets” – Uranus, Neptune and Pluto – are aspecting the Moon, albeit with hard angles. This means that if you can overcome your ego resistance, divine forces are waiting to throw you a lifeline of intuitive flows and flashes to guide you through any difficulties.

This New Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “A boy with a censer serves the priest near the altar.” I love how Dane Rudhyar’s interpretation in An Astrological Mandala takes this image beyond its Catholic trappings: “The first stage of actual participation in the great ritual of planetary evolution.” It’s a good time to ask yourself whether you’re actively involved in the great spiritual work now underway, or still sitting in the pews.

9/20 (Sun). The Sun conjuncts Mercury, energizing communication. Since Mercury is retrograde, you may find contemplation and introspection especially fruitful.
Venus enters Virgo thru 10/14, an excellent period for fine-tuning relationships, putting the finishing touches on your creative projects, and analyzing your finances.
Venus also trines Pluto, easing the way for positive relationship transformation and energizing libidos everywhere!

9/22 (Tue). If you find today’s Mercury-Saturn conjunction tipping you into gloomy thoughts, remember that this combination also empowers mental discipline. A simple “pivot” – noting the mental activity you don’t want and choosing to focus on its positive opposite instead – can work wonders! This is also a good energy for doing business, since Mercury rules commerce and Saturn is all business, all the time!
The Sun is in Libra today thru 10/22, radiating sociability, harmony and creativity.

9/23 (Wed). By choosing to embrace any needed transformation, you’ll be right in sync with the energy of today’s Sun-Pluto square. That transformation may include important relationships of all kinds, since the Sun is now in Libra.
Unsure how to handle that big transformation opportunity? With Mercury opposing Uranus, your ability to receive the answer in a flash – an intuitive flash, that is – is unusually strong. If you aren’t already skilled at this, my free divine writing exercise may help you “milk the sacred cow” for the answers you need!
While a Mercury-Neptune quincunx can induce confusion and uncertainty, it can also beautifully open your mind to the ever-flowing waterfall of divine bliss and guidance. You can make this “adjustment” (the core meaning of a quincunx) simple by turning within and asking to receive the energy and information that will serve your highest need.
Another quincunx, between Mars and Jupiter, could lead to ill-advised risk-taking, jumping into things too quickly, or interfamilial tensions (Mars is in Cancer). A robust workout or a romp in bed with your sweetheart will give Mars something better to do with all its extra energy!

9/24 (Thu). It’s a magical day full of divine inspiration, with two biquintiles coming exact! The Mercury-Jupiter biquintile is great for writing and inspired thinking, while the Mars-Neptune combo is custom-made for activities that combine the physical and spiritual realms: ecstatic dance, tai chi/chi gung, yoga, and sacred sexuality.

9/28 (Mon). Have you been struggling with a conundrum that you just can’t seem to solve? Giving it focused mental effort today, under the influence of the Mercury-Chiron quincunx, may just lead you to the answer you’ve been seeking!

9/29 (Tue). Had enough of Mercury Retrograde? Then you’ll be happy to know that MERCURY STATIONS DIRECT today at 9:13 am US Eastern time, clearing the way for important new ventures. More cautious souls will choose to delay new beginnings until 10/14, when Mercury clears its shadow (passing the place where it went retrograde).

9/30 (Wed). If you didn’t solve that challenging conundrum on the 28th under that day’s Mercury-Chiron quincunx, you might try it again: the same aspect occurs again today! Not only is Mercury direct now, but the additional quincunx Chiron is receiving from Mars will add fresh juice into the mix.

THE STORY SO FAR:

New "Story So Far "Stuff: As August opens, every planet from Jupiter out is retrograde except Saturn: Jupiter thru 10/13, Chiron thru 10/25, Uranus 12/1, Neptune thru 11/2 and Pluto thru 9/11.

Pretty Much the Same Old "Story So Far" Stuff: 2009’s most powerful astrological alignment has been in effect since May: the triple conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter, now slightly spread out from 24-26° Aquarius. This powerhouse combination, active now through January, also includes Uranus around 26° Pisces due to mutual reception.
This stunning fusion of energies creates the opportunity for Spirit's light to pour through with extraordinary power. As it does, it can bring profound healing to the personal and societal wounds afflicting us all. Since free will allows any astrological setup to be used for good or ill, this intense energy can also breed fanaticism, delusion and insanity. (Not to mention a stock market bubble that may burst this Fall. According to savvy financial astrologers such as Ray Merriman, this could cause the market to drop even lower than before.)
Whatever the market does, you can do your part to help keep his energy on the high side by inviting in this light, allowing yourself to be transformed and uplifted by it, and sending it back out to the world on the wings of your healing prayers.

8/1 (Sat). Relationship energy can grow intense under today’s Venus-Pluto opposition. Disharmonious energies can make themselves known so that healing can be achieved if at all possible, while more obviously welcome effects can include soul-deep connection and supercharged libidos! Creativity can also get a major kick-start from this transit.

8/2 (Sun). Mercury enters Virgo, a sign that it rules, today thru 8/25. This is a good time to focus on details and fine points, turn your thoughts to health matters, and be of service in ways that fill you with joy and vitality!

8/3 (Mon). Probing analysis and speaking your deepest truth are supported as Mercury trines Pluto.

8/5 (Wed). Our third eclipse in five weeks occurs today at 8:54 pm (14° Aquarius). For the next six months, this LUNAR ECLIPSE (sort of a FULL MOON on steroids!) asks us to consider how “full-filled” we are with our uniqueness, special qualities and humanitarian service. Are you embracing Aquarian paradigm shifts that will propel you forward in exciting new directions? Are you truly being yourself, or still toeing someone else’s line?
The Full Moon’s aspects deepen its meaning. Mars’ trine adds drive and excitement, while its placement in Gemini adds to the mental stimulation already present because of the Aquarian Moon. The Moon’s loose conjunction to Jupiter adds a sense of hope and optimism. Creative inspiration is also strong, since the Moon forms the tip of a
GOLDEN YOD formed by Venus (creativity) and Saturn (crystallization).
Technical paragraph (feel free to skip this if you wish!): A Golden Yod is formed by two biquintiles (144°) and a quintile (72°), aspects which divide the circle by five and which represent divinely inspired creativity, genius and enhanced divine connection. (Mozart’s natal chart, for example, has four quintiles and 10 biquintiles!) In this Golden Yod, Venus and Saturn form a quintile, and each of them also biquintiles the Full Moon.
          This Full Moon’s
Sabian Symbol is “A Train Entering a Tunnel.” Often, a tunnel’s exit is not visible upon entry, and one must have faith that there is a way out at the other end! In the same way, embracing Aquarian paradigm shift can jar us out of our comfort zone and send us in unexpected new directions – trains we haven’t yet ridden, as well as unfamiliar tunnels. A train can carry a lot of people, blessing you with the company of fellow travelers. So follow your intuitive flashes and gather your allies as we all explore new and more harmonious ways of being in this rapidly changing world!

8/7 (Fri). The Venus-Saturn quintile which formed the base of the Full Moon Golden Yod is exact today, carrying forward the energy of creative manifestation. Not only can you get started on creative projects today, you can fine-tune them, thanks to today’s sextile of Venus and Virgoan Mercury. Both these aspects also support relationship harmony.

8/10 (Mon). Conflict generated by clashing ideas is possible today (Geminian Mars square Virgoan Saturn), but the same energies can also provide Energizer Bunny endurance!

8/12 (Wed). Flashes of creativity and divine inspiration are available, thanks to today’s Sun-Uranus biquintile

8/13 (Thu). Mars trines the Three Aquarians* 8/13-17, beginning today with Jupiter. Plan a physically active day and get some blood flowing! Sexuality and new beginnings are also energized.

8/14 (Fri). The high energy continues with a Sun-Jupiter opposition, but be careful not to go overboard – it’s easy to overstep appropriate limits under hard angles from Jupiter! With Venus biquintile Jupiter, creativity remains at high tide.

8/15 (Sat). Mars trines Chiron today, energizing healing (especially alternative modalities) and mentoring.
          With a
T-SQUARE peaking today – Mars squaring a loose Saturn-Uranus opposition -- you might feel torn between “business as usual” and venturing in new directions. (This T-Square is strong the 11th thru the 26th.) If you can’t decide between old patterns and new paradigms, see if you can somehow turn an either/or into a both/and!

8/16 (Sun). Not only was Chiron trined by Mars yesterday, it’s being opposed by the Sun today! All this attention (on top of Chiron having been tightly conjunct Neptune and Jupiter for months on end) brings its energy of healing, mentoring and maverick action into strong focus. Chiron is also associated with wounding, so take extra care around this time.

8/17 (Mon). Today is a veritable astrological orgy, with most of the solar system’s planets connecting in a wide variety of ways!
Divinely inspired creativity flows abundantly, along with easy connection to Spirit, thanks to three aspects to Neptune: a biquintile from Venus, an opposition from the Sun and a trine from Mars!
A Sun-Mars sextile showers us with the energy of action and accomplishment.
Disciplined thought and authoritative speech are supported by a Mercury-Saturn conjunction. This conjunction might also stimulate someone to try to control your thinking or your speech; if so, it could be because the Mercury-Jupiter quincunx lulled you into motormouth mode!

8/18 (Tue). The possibility of accidents is enhanced around the 18th, due to today’s volatile Mars-Uranus square and Sun-Uranus quincunx. Exercise if you need to burn off some extra energy, but do it mindfully! Breakthrough thinking is also supported by this aspect.

8/19 (Wed). Today is another very busy sky day, almost like an aftershock from the 17th!
Venus sextiles Saturn and quincunxes Jupiter. Combined with a Jupiter-Saturn quincunx, this creates a dynamic but somewhat challenging business environment in which the ability to make strategic adjustments is a critical key to success.
In fact, these three planets are forming a
YOD (a sextile and two quincunxes), also know as a “Finger of God.” (Saturn and Venus are at the base of this triangle, with Jupiter at the tip.) Another way to interpret this combination is that taking a practical and realistic (Saturn) look at relationships (Venus) will help to create new hope and joy (Jupiter) within them.

8/20 (Thu). The August NEW MOON occurs today at 6:01 am (28° Leo). Plan for new beginnings in the areas of leadership, childlike play, sensible risk-taking, chilling out and/or “strutting your stuff.”
This is the first lunation in two months that isn’t also an eclipse, but, thanks to a stunning array of aspects, it still packs a wallop! For starters, it’s being energized by all three outer planets, receiving a trine from Pluto (transformation), a quincunx from Uranus (paradigm shift) and an opposition from Neptune (intuitive guidance). Moving Sunward, there are also oppositions from Chiron (healing) and Jupiter (expansion), a sextile from Mars (life force) and inconjuncts from the Nodes of the Moon (karmic destiny). In fact, I can’t recall the last time a lunation was so abundantly aspected!
          The New Moon’s
Sabian Symbol, “Many Little Birds on a Limb of a Big Tree,” beautifully reflects this plethora of energetic connections. I can also see it meaning many components (the birds) of the plan you’ll be making (the tree). You could also imagine the birds representing the allies who will come to assist you in carrying out your plans.
The bottom line is that this is an incredibly powerful time for new beginnings, whether they’re in the Leonine areas described above or any other. So get cracking, why dontcha!
With Mercury quincunx Neptune, receiving intuitive input into your thinking only requires an adjustment – which could be as simple as asking for it!
Today’s Venus-Chiron quincunx could help bring healing to relationships – if you’re willing to be flexible with your partner.
          There’s another
YOD – strongest today and lasting the 19th thru the 23rd – with Chiron quincunxing a Venus-Saturn sextile. One interpretation is that any relationship (Venus) challenge (Saturn) that arises is doing so in order to set the stage for a deeper healing (Chiron).

8/21 (Fri). With Mercury opposing Uranus, intuitive flashes should be abundant. Can you catch them, and – more importantly – follow them?

8/22 (Sat). Abundant creative inspiration is only an intention shift away with today’s Venus-Neptune quincunx. And you may be inspired to take your creativity (or relationships) in exciting new directions, since Venus is trining Uranus!
The Sun enters Virgo today thru 9/22, a good time to tend to details and focus on serving others. Just don’t fall into the self-abasing “Cinderella Syndrome” – strive to be helpful in ways that fill you with the greatest joy and satisfaction!

8/23 (Sun). With the Sun trine Pluto, it’s a good time for doing depth work – psychology, occult practice, and other activities that help to bring what’s hidden into the light.

8/25 (Tue). Two planets change signs today! Mars enters Cancer thru 10/16, energizing nurturing, healing and good cooking! Three hours later, Mercury enters Libra (where it will go retrograde on 9/7) thru 9/17 – a good energy for conversation and relating with others.

8/25-26 (Tue-Wed). Venus has her own sign change today, entering Leo thru 9/21. This is a good time to thrust your creative gifts into the spotlight, or to make a special woman in your life feel like a queen!
          A challenging
T-SQUARE peaks today and is strong 8/21 thru 9/3, with Mercury squaring the Mars-Pluto opposition (also exact today). The Mars-Pluto opposition can breed conflict and violence, and Mercury’s involvement suggests that wounding words could come all too easily. Can you lovingly speak a difficult but transforming truth instead, or use this potent Mars-Pluto power for new beginnings or nurturing eroticism (Mars in Cancer)?

8/27 (Thu). With Venus quincunx Pluto, ask yourself: how can I positively transform one of my relationships today?

8/28 (Fri). If you’ve been waiting to have that important discussion, you’ll be happy to know that communications have harmonious support from today’s Mercury-Venus sextile

8/31 (Mon). Had any health issues come to your attention lately? Today’s Saturn-Chiron quincunx is a good energy under which to adjust the underlying behaviors that are causing them.

The overall "cosmic weather" affecting everyone

July 2009
by Benjamin Bernstein

Learn more about working with void-of-course Moons here.

7/3, 6:04a - 10:11a (Sagittarius)

7/30, 8:55a - 4:11p (Sagittarius)

THE STORY SO FAR:

New "Story So Far "Stuff: Three planets went retrograde in June: Jupiter will backpedal thru 10/13, Chiron thru 10/25, and Neptune thru 11/2. (Uranus barely missed the cut -- it's going retrograde on 7/1.)

Pretty Much the Same Old "Story So Far" Stuff From Last Month: 2009’s most powerful astrological alignment continues to continue from May and June: the triple conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter around 26° Aquarius.
Also, Pluto continues its retrograde thru 9/11.

7/1 (Wed). July opens dramatically, with paradigm-shifting Uranus stationing retrograde through 12/1. Outer planets such as Uranus work pretty much the same no matter which direction they’re moving. Outer planet stations are important because the planet stays in one place for a long time, focusing its energy more intensely. Therefore, Uranus’ energy of revolution, innovation, shock and awakening is especially potent in the weeks around the time when it appears to be standing still against the fixed stars.
Venus and Mercury both make strong connections with Uranus today, as well as the “Three Aquarians” (Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter) hanging out around 26° Aquarius.
Mercury’s easy-connecting trine to the Three Aquarians* makes it easier for the rational mind to receive the flow of intuitive wisdom, mentoring from others and expanded optimism. Its square to Uranus can strengthen intuitive flashes, while also increasing the tendency to resist acting on them.
Venus’ square to the Three Aquarians,* if not used consciously, can increase the chance of fuzzy thinking regarding relationships and a wounding on some level. Take the bull by the horns by focusing on deeper soul-connection with your dear ones, as well as healing and the sharing of wisdom. Also consider getting a reality check regarding any relationship challenges you’re having from someone with a more objective perspective.

7/2 (Thu). Relationship, creativity and finance are amplified (and potentially challenged) today as Venus squares Jupiter and sextiles Uranus. Be sure to honor any intuitive flashes you receive in these areas!

7/3 (Fri). Mercury enters Cancer through 7/17. Your thoughts are a bit more likely to turn to healing and nurturing, and it will be easier to charge your communications with greater emotional power. (Truly objective thinking, however, will be a bit harder to come by!)

7/4 (Sat). July 4 may be a good day to declare mental independence and speak your deepest truth as Mercury opposes Pluto. Just be prepared to calmly and lovingly stand your ground against an opposing viewpoint.

7/5 (Sun). Mars begins a challenging contact with the Three Aquarians, squaring Chiron today and Neptune and Jupiter tomorrow. Watch for sudden outbursts of anger or violence, which may be precipitated by fanaticism or deluded thinking. Counter these negative tendencies by taking action to promote healing and divine union.
Venus enters Gemini today thru 7/31, making it easier to take relationships and creativity in a more playful and eclectic direction.

7/6 (Mon). Mars’ challenging squares to Neptune and Jupiter are exact today (see 7/5). Mercury’s quintile to Saturn can provide inspiration and productivity to teachers, writers and other communicators, while relationships adjustments may be required in response to Venus’ quincunx to Pluto

7/7 (Tue). Today’s LUNAR ECLIPSE at 5:21 AM at 15° Capricorn is like a Full Moon on steroids; focus on its themes for six months instead of one. Determine how "full-filled" you are with your job, career or worldly activities, and make any necessary adjustments needed to create a more harmonious and stable structure. (This Capricornian theme is reinforced by the fact that Saturn, Capricorn’s ruler, is making a harmonious trine to the Full Moon.) This eclipse’s Sabian Symbol, “School grounds filled with boys and girls in gymnasium suits,” reminds us that we’ll actually be more productive in the long run if we make time for physical exercise and recreation.
With Mars sextile Uranus, it’s also a good day to translate your intuitive flashes into immediate action.

7/9 (Thu). The Full Moon’s get-the-work-out vibe gets a boost from today’s Sun-Saturn sextile

7/10 (Fri). Peaking today, and lasting all the way thru January, is a chance – courtesy of a potent Jupiter-Neptune conjunction -- to immerse yourself deeply into your spirituality and divinely inspired creativity. It also wouldn’t hurt to get a reality check on important matters, since this contact can also be a delusion amplifier!

7/11 (Sat). Today’s Mercury-Saturn sextile is great for focused thinking and writing productivity.
Mars enters Gemini today thru 8/25, making it easier to take action in the fields of writing, speaking, teaching and learning.

7/12 (Sun). Venus’ quintile to Uranus makes it easier to receive creative flashes, as well as helpful relationship insights. (Check out my article on how to take dictation from your Higher Self if you’d like to learn how to make yourself more receptive to your inner wisdom!)

7/13 (Mon). Learning and nurturing communication are amped up by today’s Sun-Mercury conjunction in Cancer.

7/14 (Tue). Be cautious not to provoke those with short tempers – today’s Mars-Pluto quincunx can be volatile! As with all Mars-Pluto contacts, exercise, athletic competition, sex or other activities requiring lots of physical energy can be delightfully empowered.

7/15 (Wed). Mercury quincunxes the Three Aquarians* today. Making time for mental activities could be rewarded with enhanced inspiration and access to inner wisdom!

7/16 (Thu). With Mercury (left-brain mentality) trining Uranus (flashes of divine intelligence), ask first for answers from within before invoking logic.

7/17 (Fri). The Sun quincunxes the Three Aquarians* today (Chiron and Jupiter) and tomorrow (Neptune). Any agitation or ennui you may feel can be helped by saturating yourself with divine light. (See my Divine Saturation Snap Meditation for an effective, field-tested method!)
Mercury enters Leo today thru 8/2, encouraging public speaking, storytelling and other entertaining forms of public declamation.

7/18 (Sat). With the Sun trining Uranus, your vitality will be enhanced by “letting your freak flag fly.” Research and deep mental probing are supported by today’s Mercury-Pluto quincunx – just be mindful that you don’t get sucked into a war of words!

7/20 (Mon). Enjoyable, entertaining and light-hearted conversation can flow easily with Leonine Mercury sextiling Geminian Mars

7/21 (Tue). A SOLAR ECLIPSE -- a New Moon, as always -- occurs today at 10:34 PM at 29° Cancer. This gives especially powerful support to new beginnings focused on nurturing and healing.
Its aspects (conjunct the South Node, quincunx Pluto and trine Uranus) and Sabian Symbol (“A Daughter of the American Revolution”) suggest respect for traditions that remain useful, while still embracing the paradigm shifts needed to spring forward. (It’s interesting that even the conservative organization named by the symbol contains the word “revolution”!)
Relationship challenge is also likely around this date, due to Venus’ square to Saturn. Determine where the foundation of your togetherness might need repair to enhance its stability.

7/22 (Wed). New hope for healing (both personal and universal) peaks today and remains strong through January due to Jupiter’s conjunction to Chiron.
The Sun enters Leo today through 8/22, encouraging us to share our creativity, embrace leadership opportunities where appropriate and let our inner children out to play!

7/23 (Thu). Can you view any challenges that arise around this time – especially if they threaten the supremacy of your ego – as opportunities to surrender more fully to your inner guidance? (Sun quincunx Pluto.)

7/24 (Fri). The flow from intuitive flash to physical action can be seamless and magical under today’s Mars-Uranus quintile

7/27 (Mon). Venus trines the Three Aquarians today (Jupiter and Chiron) and tomorrow (Neptune), creating new possibilities for deeper soul connection with those you love, easier relating with Spirit and stronger creativity.

7/28 (Tue). Intuitive flashes (Venus square Uranus) can guide your relationships and creative expression to the next level now, as long as you’re willing to replace the tried and true with the newer and truer!
Mental creativity gets its own intuitive assist with Mercury’s biquintile to Uranus

7/30 (Thu). Mercury opposes the Three Aquarians* today and tomorrow, opening the way for more powerful channeling of your higher wisdom, wisdom-givers and empowered mental functioning. But no matter how exciting a new idea may be or how great your desire to share it, be sure to engage your powers of discrimination!
Venus fires up the slowly coalescing Uranus-Pluto square 7/25 thru 8/1, with greatest influence today. (Technically speaking, this is a
T-SQUARE, with Venus opposing Pluto and both planets squaring Uranus.) This could amplify the themes of increased independence, true equality and sexual freedom within relationships.

7/31 (Fri). Venus enters Cancer today thru 8/26, an energy that supports having good friends over so you can nurture than with food and lots of warm fuzzies!

THE STORY SO FAR: (I apologize that this is so similar to last month’s “The Story So Far,” but the major aspects are still the same!)
2009’s most powerful astrological alignment continues from May: the triple conjunction of Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter at 26° Aquarius. This powerhouse combination, active now through January, also includes Uranus at 26° Pisces due to mutual reception.
Also, Pluto continues its retrograde thru 9/11.

6/2 (Tue). Because of the four planets hanging out at 26° all month, many of this month's transits will consist of the same planet making four aspects within a day or two. Such is the case today with Venus sextiling Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron (hereafter referred to as "the three Aquarians") and semi-sextiling Uranus. This is a great time for financial visualization, spiritual union, and connecting with the divine in your fellow physical beings. Creativity will also get a boost – listen for those singing Muses! And if you’re into “lucky days,” this might just qualify, since the two classic “benefics” (bringers of good fortune) Venus and Jupiter are making a harmonious sextile

6/4 (Thu). Strong, easy-flowing energy for initiation and accomplishment is the order of the day as Taurean Mars trines Capricornian Pluto. Diving into psychology, research, or the occult arts is also supported.

6/5 (Fri). Be prepared for a more challenging day as the Sun squares Saturn. If some person or institution challenges your authority, it could be an invitation to step into your own power so effectively that it becomes the dominant force. Persistence is central to accomplishment under these energies.

6/6 (Sat). Venus enters Taurus today thru July 4. With the natural ruler of relationships in the zodiac's most stable sign, her placement here will act as a ballast to the relationship challenges that have been so strongly lately. This is also a good time for creative artists to get steady and methodical with their output.
It would be great if Venus’ sesquiquadrate to Saturn could act as another stabilizing factor, but it's actually more likely to throw a touch of challenge into the mix.

6/7 (Sun). June's FULL MOON occurs today at 2:11 PM at 17° Sagittarius. Sagittarian full moons are good times to see how "full-filled" you are in the areas of inspiration, spirituality, higher learning and adventurous immersion into foreign cultures.
This is one of the more difficult lunations we've seen recently, with the Moon making somewhat challenging aspects (sesquiquadrates and a semi-square) to Venus and the Nodes, and a square to Saturn! There may be some challenge in the areas of relationship and life purpose, while the basic vibe of the Full Moon Seems to be about maintaining faith, hope and optimism in the midst of adversity.
This Full Moon's Sabian Symbol is, "Children playing on the beach, their heads protected by sunbonnets." This seems a positive image to me. The children represent new hopes and possibilities, while the sunbonnets are screening the potentially damaging rays of the Sun.

6/8 (Mon). Venus trine Pluto could signal relationship transformation (of the more easy-flowing kind), creative empowerment, or a strong financial opportunity.

6/9-10 (Tue-Wed). Uranus semi-sextiles Neptune on the 9th, amplifying the energy of spiritual breakthrough, creative innovation and compassionate humanitarianism. When two outer planets connect, it's rarely a short-term dalliance. This is definitely true here, since this recently formed aspect will endure through the Spring of 2011!
Working in a much shorter timeframe, Mercury squares "the three Aquarians*" and sextiles Uranus on these days, completing his aspect five days later. Beware of confused or excessive communication, while at the same time taking advantage of your enhanced ability to receive intuitive flashes!

6/11-12 (Thu-Fri). Mars quintiles "the three Aquarians*" on these days, initiating or energizing activities involving creativity or divine connection.

6/13 (Sat). Mercury enters Gemini (one of the signs that it rules) through July 3, broadcasting the energy of curiosity, diversity, learning, teaching, writing and other forms of communication.

6/14-15 (Sun-Mon). The sky is awash with new possibilities on these days as Venus, following in Mars’ footsteps, quintiles "the three Aquarians*." Creativity and romance are highlighted, and the 72° quintile (angle of divine inspiration) adds even more creative juju!

6/15 (Mon). Jupiter goes retrograde today at 27° Aquarius, and will turn direct again in about four months on 10/13 at 17° Aquarius. This is a good time to reflect on justice, our religious and philosophical beliefs and what we can learn from foreign points of view.

6/16-17 (Tue-Wed). The Sun trines “the three Aquarians*” on these days, promising enhanced vitality -- especially to those who open themselves to spirituality and creativity. To avoid potential disruptions or unpleasant surprises (Sun square Uranus) be sure to follow your intuitive flashes!

6/20 (Sat). A loose T-Square, with a Sun-Pluto opposition squaring Uranus, is active 6/14-23 and peaks today. The slowly developing square between Uranus and Pluto is now 5-1/2 degrees apart, and the Sun's stimulation to them both will perhaps give us a small preview of their potent energies of revolutionary transformation. (The conjunction of Uranus and Pluto in the mid-60's was primarily responsible for that decade's distinctive character, and they will be giving us a sort of "60's Part 2" when they make seven exact squares to each other in the years 2011-2015. However, they are close enough now that their combined effect is already being felt!)

6/21 (Sun). The Sun enters Cancer today, where it will remain through 7/22. The energies of home, nurturing, motherhood, creativity and sensitivity will be amplified.
Also today, after a dogged two-month pursuit,
Venus finally catches up Mars, forming a conjunction in mid-Taurus. Relationship and financial opportunities and issues have been charged during these planets’ unusually extended conjunction, and they may reach a climax today.
Mercury also quintiles Uranus today, firing up the intuitive flash engine and temporarily making everybody just a little bit more of a genius!

6/22 (Mon). Venus and Mars, still tightly joined, trine Saturn today. This helps create a solid foundation for the relationship, creative and money matters that have been so dominant lately.
        The June
NEW MOON occurs today at 3:34 PM at 2° Cancer. Cancer New Moons are great times for new beginnings in home, nurturing, motherhood, creativity and sensitivity.
This New Moon’s aspects are an interesting mix. The tight Pluto opposition speaks of the need for powerful transformation, and possible confrontation from a powerful adversary within the next month. (If that should happen, consider whether you’re being asked to amp up your own power to exceed that of your opponent!) However, the trine from "the three Aquarians*" could represent the harmonious fulfillment of new dreams and visions, as well as healing.
This New Moon's Sabian Symbol is, "A man on a magic carpet hovers over a large area of land." To me this indicates that whatever opportunity or challenge this New Moon brings, it's important to keep a broader perspective on the proceedings and not get excessively tangled up in the minutiae. It also reminds us of our ability to rise above the fray (no carpet pun intended) -- not necessarily by changing the events themselves, but by identifying as much as possible with the divine self rather than the limited ego.

6/23 (Tue). If you feel like a part of you is dying, you're right on schedule. After all, the Sun is opposing Pluto! It's a good day to release whatever has outlived its usefulness, thus creating a space for Spirit to fill with something better. Under this aspect, some people may let their inner Darth Vader come out to play; consider heading for the nearest escape pod if you want to avoid a conflict!

6/26 (Fri). With Mercury square Saturn, restriction of free expression and business challenges are both possible. However, great mental focus is possible if you rise to the occasion.

6/28 (Sun). Your resources and what you value may be challenged as Saturn conjuncts Ceres. You can prevail by adopting the positive Saturnian qualities of discipline, focus and persistence.

6/30 (Tue). A calm, receptive mind is the ideal receptacle for catching all the intuitive flashes being generated by today's Jupiter-Uranus semi-sextile -- especially since the two planets are also linking up by mutual reception. Now through the end of July will also be a great time for religious experimentation, unconventional quests and inspiring breakthroughs!

The overall "cosmic weather" affecting everyone

It’s All Good Astrology

May 2009
by Benjamin Bernstein

Learn more about working with void-of-course Moons here.

5/2, 6:09p – 5/3, 12:37a (Virgo)
5/4, 9:31p – 5/5, 5:52a (Libra)
5/7, 6:01a - 12:48p (Scorpio)
5/9, 2:49p - 9:50p (Sagittarius)
5/12, 1:56a - 9:10a (Capricorn)
5/14, 8:59p - 10:02p (Aquarius)
5/17, 6:40a - 10:18a (Pisces)
5/19, 5:44p - 7:31p (Aries)
5/21, 6:36p – 5/22, 12:41a (Taurus)
5/23, 8:49p – 5/24, 2:34a (Gemini)
5/25, 9:18p – 5/26, 2:58a (Cancer)
5/27, 11:06p – 5/28, 3:45a (Leo)
5/30, 4:19a - 6:18a (Virgo)

THE STORY SO FAR: Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter form a powerful triple conjunction in late Aquarius now through January, with Uranus in late Pisces an honorary member of the trio because of its mutual reception to Neptune and Jupiter. This stunning fusion of energies creates the opportunity for God's light to pour through with extraordinary power. As it does, it can bring profound healing to the personal and societal wounds afflicting humanity. Unfortunately, this energy's intensity is also driving some who are full of darkness to snap and do crazy, violent things. (Noticed the unusually high numbers of mass murders lately?) We can each help these poor souls (and help minimize further mayhem) by inviting in this light, allowing ourselves to be transformed and uplifted by it, and sending it back out to the world on the wings of our healing prayers.

5/2. Today’s Venus-Pluto square peers deep into our most important relationships, bringing up from the depths those parts most in need of healing. Creativity can be supercharged -- even urgent -- under this aspect.

5/5. The trine between the Taurean Sun and Saturn is a good energy for taking care of business and getting a solid handle on your responsibilities. It's also a good time to get any new undertakings started before Mercury goes retrograde on the 8th!

5/7. MERCURY GOES RETROGRADE today at 1 AM (at 2° Gemini) through 5/30 at 9:21 PM (at 23° Taurus). Try to avoid starting important new projects during this time, and be aware that travel, communication and technology may experience glitches. However, it's a great time for reflection and planning, especially in the areas of learning, communication, money, resources and self-esteem.

5/9. May’s FULL MOON brightens the sky at 12:01 AM at 19° Scorpio, a good time to reflect on how “full-filled” you are with your shared resources, investments, occult practices, psychological health and committed romantic relationship. With Arean Mars making a creative biquintile to the Moon, the way is clear for you to receive creative solutions to any issues and take action on them. This Full Moon's Sabian Symbol is, “A parrot repeats the conversation he has overheard.” This could be interpreted as the capacity to channel divine information, so relax and receive!

5/11. Long-burning energy is a hallmark of Mars-Saturn aspects, including today's quincunx. You may also feel inspired to make adjustments in your everyday routines or how you're doing business. Minor tweaks are fine, but remember that, however inspired you may be, major new projects are best delayed until Mercury goes direct on the 30th.

5/13. Mercury moves into Taurus today through 6/13, helping you focus your mind on money, resources, self-esteem and being rather than doing.

5/16. Abundant energy is available today, as the Sun makes three major aspects within 13 hours: a sextile to Uranus and squares to Jupiter and Chiron. Plan some extra activities so that you'll have something to do with all the extra energy you’ll be receiving, while still allowing some quiet time to receive intuitive flashes.
Saturn also goes direct today, opening the door for new business ventures and accomplishments. (But do wait until after the 30th when Mercury goes direct....)

5/17. Today's Sun-Neptune square is great for meditation and creative downloading -- just beware of anyone who might try to pull the wool over your eyes!

5/18. Today's Sun-Mercury conjunction should sharpen up your mental acuity and thirst for learning!

5/19. The combined energies of several minor aspects make this a good day for creative expression, amplified originality and having faith in your intuition.

5/20. Mercury's squares to Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter could create some mental fuzziness or hyperactivity, but it's a great setup for channeling!
There are opportunities for both relationship adjustment and creative crystallization with Venus quincunx Saturn.
The Sun enters Gemini today through 6/20, amplifying the energies of mental curiosity, teaching, writing and information sharing in general.

5/21. Intuitive flashes should come easily today as Mercury sextiles Uranus.

5/23. It's an extraordinarily good time for mentoring, healing and embracing your inner maverick as Jupiter conjuncts Chiron. (In fact, these two planets will stay energetically joined at the hip through early 2010!)
The Sun also quincunxes Pluto today, a good time to align the desires of the personality with the intuitive directions of the soul.

5/24. May’s NEW MOON arrives today at 8:11 AM at 4° Gemini, a great time to set new goals for learning and communicating information -- especially if it will help support your transformation or that of others (the New Moon is quincunx Pluto). Also try to focus on working with information which is in alignment with your life purpose, since the New Moon is trine the North Node. The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is, "Holly and mistletoe reawaken old memories of Christmas,” which Dane Rudhyar interprets as, "a longing for the pre-intellectual state of consciousness” -- always a handy realm to tap into when you're doing deep work!

5/26-27. Mars sextiles Chiron, Jupiter and Neptune on 5/26 on 5/27, re-energizing all the issues I discussed in "The Story so Far" at the beginning of this forecast.

5/27. It's a great day for creativity and imagination, with Venus biquintile Saturn.
The year's most important conjunction occurs for the first time today!
JUPITER AND NEPTUNE WILL CONJOIN three times this year, but their effect must be considered in combination with Chiron and Uranus. For an understanding of these combined forces, I once again refer you to "The Story so Far" at the beginning of this forecast.

5/29. Neptune turns retrograde today through 11/2, encouraging us to spend more time turning inward into the realm of spirituality, intuition, dreams and fantasies. (Perhaps that's one reason why Hollywood unleashes its most escapist movies at this time of year!)
Today's Sun-Uranus quintile provides yet another opportunity to receive your intuitive flashes more powerfully.

5/30. It's not every day that two planets change directions, but this is one of them!

MERCURY GOES DIRECT at 9:21 PM eastern time. The universal energy is now more supportive for all those new initiatives that you put on hold while Mercury was retrograde.
On the other hand, Chiron goes retrograde today through 10/25, encouraging an extended period of reflection on the themes of mentorship and healing.

5/31. Mars enters Taurus through 7/11, a good energy for steady, productive accomplishment and outdoor exercise!

Bonus Sun Sign forecasts for May

ARIES

Relationship issues are inescapable this month, Aries. No matter how much you may feel like doing your own thing, it may seem as if others are dogging you relentlessly. It will be thus through June, so you may as well accept it! Now through January, be sure that you're spending time with groups of high-vibration people, and using the Law of Attraction in your goal-setting. The more you embrace transformation in career, the more power and wealth you’ll attract. Be willing to adjust how you do business around the 11th, and get ready to ride a wave of spiritual power around the 26th and 27th

TAURUS

It may feel like you're having to regain momentum lost in March and April, Taurus, but you'll be mostly back up to speed by month’s end. If there’s a relationship you're pursuing, or some change you’re trying to bring about in an existing one, watch for the situation to hit a "moment of truth" in the days around June 21. May is optimal for merging with Spirit and receiving creative inspiration, although you’ll also find the Law of Attraction especially powerful in achieving your career goals now through January. Be open to a powerful transformation around the 2nd, and manifest your creative visions around the 27th.

GEMINI

Start any important projects no later than the 7th, Gemini. May 8-30 is better suited to planning, reflecting and finishing what you've already started. Now through January, you'll have extra juice for your religious path, higher learning, foreign excursions and philosophical inquiries. Watch for confusion or deception in your important relationships, although there is also great opportunity for an unusually deep level of soul blending. Enjoy extra vitality around the 18th, but watch out for possible relationship conflict around the 20th. And catch those intuitive flashes around the 21st

CANCER

Relationships of all kinds is a huge theme for you this year, Cancer. Whatever issues have been bubbling up over the last two years should come to a head this Fall. If you have a committed romantic relationship, it should experience high (or low) points late this month and in July, and also be strongly stimulated through January. Invest your money cautiously through January, since enthusiasm and optimism could blind you to potential pitfalls.

LEO

Work remains a primary focus through the 20th, Leo, after which you can enjoy more social activity. Relationships are central through January, where the possibility exists for both soul-deep connection and delusion or deception. You can bring healing to unresolved relationship issues mid-month. Mental activity is well supported around the 18th, transformation and adjustment around the 23rd, and inspiration and creativity around the 29th.

VIRGO

Beware the "Cinderella Syndrome" now through January, Virgo -- scrubbing the evil stepmother's floor on bloody knees when you should be waltzing with Prince Charming! Be sure you're getting as good as you’re giving in all important relationships, especially around the 20th. Allow yourself to be more inward and reflective the 8th through the 30th, favoring planning over initiating. Work is a primary focus through the 13th, while energy is available for higher education, spirituality and immersion in other cultures through 6/13.

LIBRA

Relationships are especially important this month, Libra. It may feel as if you’re in constant pursuit -- either of a relationship, or a change you’d like to see in one. The energy is strong for you to either achieve this goal -- or conclude that it’s unachievable -- around June 21. Both new romance and creative inspiration are especially responsive to the Law of Attraction now through January, so let the universe know your intentions! Be open to relationship transformation around the 2nd.

SCORPIO

This is a good month to focus on health and service to others, Scorpio. Relationship on your mind? If so, have patience, since an opportunity may reveal itself around June 21. The opportunity for passion and relationship transformation is strong early in the month, while Energizer Bunny endurance is yours around the 11th. Finally, you can connect with your Higher Self more easily around the 27th.

SAGITTARIUS

Altered states are calling, Sagittarius! Now through January, spend as much time as possible meditating (or whatever opens you to Spirit) or receiving creative inspiration from your Muse. Otherwise, you may be tempted to overindulge in alcohol or mind-altering drugs, or lose yourself in escapist distractions. Spiritual healing of old wounds is also powerfully supported during this period. Your yearning for expanded consciousness will become especially strong toward the end of the month.

CAPRICORN

Haven't yet been able to get up a full head of steam this year, Capricorn? Don’t worry -- another eight months of productivity will be available again starting mid-month. That's also when the Law of Attraction will work especially well in the areas of money, boosting self-esteem and making that all-important time for rest and revitalization. Enjoy enhanced vitality around the 5th and extra creative inspiration around the 27th

AQUARIUS

"God is as close as feet and hands." Now through January, Aquarius, let yourself feel the divine presence within your own body. Affirmations and visualizations will also be especially effective in helping you transform your physical form. Put your extra vitality to good use around the 16th through 19th, while the last 10 days of May are optimal for mental work and creativity.

PISCES

Now through January, learning, teaching and healing are strongly energized for you, Pisces -- the doors are open for you to give or receive these energies, or do both! You should enjoy amplified optimism and energy during this period, as well as the ability to merge even more deeply than usual with your Divine Source. Just don't bliss out when you need to be attentive to your surroundings, since there is also a slightly increased chance of physical injury. Your vitality should be strong mid-month, followed by an exceptionally robust energy peak late in the month. You may feel like Superman, but remember that it's your spirit flying, not your physical body!

A FINAL NOTE

Sun sign astrology is just the beginning. Your natal chart, when interpreted by a professional astrologer, can give you profound insights into every area of your life. I encourage you to explore your chart more deeply!

4/28, 12:23p - 6:39p (Cancer)

4/30, 6:30p - 8:56p (Leo)

THE STORY SO FAR: As April opens, Venus and Saturn are retrograde, and there are STELLIUMS (three or more planets in a sign) in Aquarius (North Node, Jupiter, Chiron & Neptune) and Aries (Venus, the Sun and Mercury).

4/2 (Thu). With Mercury in Aries, your desire to communicate new possibilities may be urgent and enthusiastic. With Mercury quincunx Saturn, however, be sure to phrase your ideas carefully so that those of a more conservative bent are able to receive them in the best possible light.

4/3 (Fri). Trouble in paradise? With retrograde Venus in detriment and squaring Pluto, rest assured you're not the only one! As hard as it might be, remember that Pluto is doing you a favor by bringing any dysfunctional aspects of your most important relationships into the light. Unless you're in danger, however, it's not yet time to take action on the relationship insights this transit can reveal -- if possible, wait until Venus goes direct on 4/17. In addition, stay alert to a repetition (or resolution) of the issues that come up now when Venus, after turning direct, makes this same square to Pluto again on 5/2.
Of course, challenging energies such as this can also be put to positive use. Consider taking your sexual relationship to a higher plane with tantra, or enjoy a supercharged period of creative expression! In fact, this prescription for spiritual sexuality and creative empowerment is powerfully repeated by today's Mars-Pluto quintile

4/4 (Sat). The urge to broadcast your thoughts may be overwhelming as Arean Mercury sextiles Jupiter. If a bit of restraint is in order, the discipline made available by today's Mars-Saturn opposition may help you. With Mars in Pisces, it's also a great time to take fresh action (Mars) to bring your dreams and visions (Pisces) into the physical world (Saturn in Virgo). Finally, Mars-Saturn aspects can help your energy burn long and steady!
Pluto begins his annual retrograde today, which will last until 9/11. Outer planet retrogrades are minor factors in the greater astrological scheme, but you can reflect on transformation, wealth and the appropriate use of power if you wish.

4/5 (Sun). Wordsmiths might experience rewarding productivity thanks to today's Mercury-Saturn biquintile. You can also call on Saturn's bedrock stability if you're feeling off balance, due to its quincunx to the Sun.

4/7 (Tue). With Mercury sextile Neptune, set aside some time for daydreaming and fantasizing. Making time to meander in this nebulous space might just open the door for some extraordinary ideas!

4/9 (Thu). Mercury enters Taurus today through April 30. This is a good time to focus on financial issues and concepts about your own self-worth. Peace of mind can be more easily achieved during this period if you spend time in nature and make sure that you're giving your body sufficient nurturing, rest and relaxation.
Mercury’s sign change brings an end to the Aries stellium that started 3/25.

            The April
FULL MOON occurs today at 10:55 AM at 20° Libra. This is a good time to take stock of your relationships and creative output, and review any agreements or contracts that need your attention.
This Full Moon’s aspects are mostly harmonious, with a tight trine from Jupiter and looser trines from Neptune and Chiron. Jupiter may well lend a sense of new hope to relationships, whereas Neptune may be sprinkling some fairy dust! But while the master of illusion might be preventing you from seeing things as they really are, he can also be responsive to your affirmations and visions. Chiron's energy also opens the door to healing possibilities in your relationships. Finally, the Full Moon's quincunx to Mars pumps in energy, drive and courage to help you make whatever relationship adjustments are needed.
The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is, "A rabbi performing his duties." Given the context of this Full Moon, this symbol suggests viewing your important relationships (or creative projects) in a sacred context, and making sure that you're regularly doing your part to keep them strong and healthy.

4/10 (Fri). It's a day for optimism and expansion, thanks to Jupiter’s sextile to the sun and quintile to Mercury

4/11 (Sat). With Taurean Mercury trine Pluto, there's good energy for methodical research or occult practice. Also stay alert for financial or business opportunities!
Venus retrogrades back into Pisces through 4/23, where she will hang at 29° Pisces for almost two weeks. This could put some creative inspiration in the air, while reinforcing the energy of the recent Full Moon's trine from Neptune: namely, relationships being prone to illusion while simultaneously being receptive to your visualizations.
Venus’ sign change temporarily reconstitutes the Pisces STELLIIUM that dissolved on 3/25.

4/12 (Sun). Ceres, the Earth mother and grain goddess, goes direct today. (Pretty good timing, with Earth Day coming up in a week and a half!) You can use this energy by now putting into action any plans you've been making to adopt a more environmentally friendly lifestyle, or to treat the Earth with the respect such a magnificent and conscious being deserves.

4/13 (Mon). Feeling especially creative or inspired today? It's no wonder, with Mercury making quintiles (the 72° angle of divine inspiration) to both Chiron and Neptune!

4/14 (Tue). Chiron, energized by its sextile to the Sun, radiates the energy of healing and mentoring today.

4/15 (Wed). Some people are feeling nervous, agitated, angry and impatient today. Is it because taxes are due in the US, or is it the Mars-Uranus conjunction? (Or could it be both?) Put this energy to better use by catching your intuitive flashes and acting on them right away!
Assuming you're not under the gun to finish your taxes, consider boosting your vitality under today's Sun-Neptune sextile by meditating, giving your imagination free reign or taking in a good movie.

4/17 (Fri). VENUS GOES DIRECT today at 3:24 PM US Eastern time. If your relationship ruminations over the last six weeks during her retrograde have led you to conclude that a relationship needs to end, it's fine to do it under the current waning Moon. But starting a new relationship, or taking one to a new level of commitment, is best delayed until at least 4/25 after the Moon goes new. The same goes for major new purchases, since Venus rules finance.
Today's also a good day to focus your thoughts and capitalize on business opportunities, with Mercury trine Saturn

4/19 (Sun). The Sun enters Taurus today through 5/20, supporting activities such as fine dining, massage, enjoying nature, stimulating all five senses and recognizing that you are "not a human doing, but a human being."

4/21 (Tue). VENUS CONJUNCTS MARS today -- a conjunction that will, for all practical purposes, last until the end of June! (Venus typically moves twice as fast as Mars, but he's flying by when she's at her slowest -- just after turning direct -- and it will take her a while to catch up.) This means that the energy of relationship and creativity, rather than being highlighted for just a few days, will stay strong for over two months! For most of us, this means that whatever is up in relationship -- be it woeful or wonderful  -- will stay in the spotlight for your resolution or enjoyment.

4/22 (Wed). There are three reasons that this year's Earth Day has an especially powerful astrological profile. For starters, Mars enters Aries through the end of May. Aries is a sign that Mars rules and whose fundamental meaning it shares: assertiveness, courage and bold new beginnings. Mars’ sign change also signals the end of a Pisces stellium, symbolizing the transition from dream to action. Finally, Mercury squares Jupiter, indicating an urgent need for expanded communication about the environmental issues challenging us and our planet.
Each of us can also use this energy to transition from dream to initiation. However, don't let Aries’ infamous impatience get the best of you: your new projects will bear sweeter fruit if you wait until 4/25, after the New Moon, to start them.

4/23 (Thu). Transformation should be easier to embrace as the Sun trines Pluto. (Then again, the Sun is in set-in-its-ways Taurus, so you may still have to overcome some initial resistance!)

4/24 (Fri). Following her extended residency at 29° Pisces, Venus returns to Aries through 6/6. In this sign, she symbolizes feminine assertiveness and assertive action carried out in a spirit of harmony and grace.
Mercury sextiles Uranus today, making it easier to catch intuitive flashes and think brilliant thoughts.

            April's
NEW MOON occurs today at 11:22 PM US Eastern time at 5°3’ Taurus. This is a good time for new beginnings in finance, self-esteem, sensual awareness and learning how to "just be."
This New Moon quintiles Jupiter and tightly squares the Moon's nodes (South Node in Leo, North Node in Aquarius). This gives an energy of enhanced creativity, as well as a need to step away from societal approval in order to embrace one's unique identity and mission in the world. Plenty of power is available to do this, as shown by the New Moon's trine to Pluto.
This New Moon Sabian Symbol is "A cantilever bridge across a deep gorge." The cantilever bridge represented a major engineering breakthrough, allowing previously unbridgeable distances to be spanned. The various components of the bridge work together in innovative ways, symbolizing, as Dane Rudhyar states in An Astrological Mandala, "the conquest of separateness through cooperation." So, as you set your New Moon goals, consider calling on your allies to help manifest your visions into reality.

4/25 (Sat). As Mercury squares both Chiron and Neptune, there may be an urgent bit of spiritual wisdom attempting to enter your brain. Its truthfulness is not negated by the fact that you may tend to resist it! This can also be an inspiring time for writers, especially with a Sun-Jupiter quintile added to the mix.

4/26 (Sun). Watch your temper and avoid confrontation -- today's Mars-Pluto square is too often associated with conflict and violence. Mindfully employed, however, this aspect can be a fantastic energizer for bold action in the world, not to mention tantric ecstasy!

4/28 (Tue). Creativity and divine connection are facilitated by today's Sun-Neptune quintile.

4/30 (Thu). Mercury makes a slow and tentative entry into Gemini before going retrograde on 5/8 and returning to Taurus on 5/13. (Mercury retrograde will run 5/8 through 5/30.) Mercury's two-week stint in Gemini will give enhanced energy to learning, writing, teaching and all other forms of communication.

The overall "cosmic weather" affecting everyone

It’s All Good Astrology

March 2009

Learn more about working with void-of-course Moons here.

3/27, 10:18 pm – 3/28, 6:10 am (Taurus)
3/30, 2:01 - 9:37 am (Gemini)

THE STORY SO FAR: Grand Stellium in Aquarius (North Node plus five planets: Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Chiron & Neptune)

3/1 (Sun). With Mercury conjunct Mars (and both in Aquarius), it's a good time to speak out about your unique or revolutionary views. But be sure to communicate your message respectfully, since this aspect could also lead to a war of words!
Mercury also quincunxes Saturn today, offering commercial opportunities for those with the insight to make the adjustments needed. This aspect can also represent the forces of conservatism trying to squash those paradigm shifters exercising their Mercury-Mars conjunctions!

3/3 (Tue). It's a great day for giving or receiving wise counsel, since Mercury is conjunct Chiron. Maverick thinking is also supported.

3/5 (Thu). How can you know the mind of God? One way is to relax into today's Mercury-Neptune conjunction. Try giving your rational mind a rest and allowing your intuitive flow to supply the answers. Or you can tap into the flow of creative inspiration (Neptune) and assign your left brain (Mercury) the task of crafting it into physical form.
Support for wise counsel and maverick thinking (see 3/3) is further amplified by today's Mars-Chiron conjunction. It's also a good time to take the insights you've gained over the last few days and translate them into action!
A magical transformation could await those who open themselves to today's Sun-Pluto quintile. Do you have the courage to surrender the old and outworn, even if you're not sure what will replace it?

3/6 (Fri). VENUS WILL BE RETROGRADE today at 12:17 PM at 15° Aries thru 4/17 at 3:24 PM at 29° Pisces. Venus retrogrades occur every 18 months, and are ideal times to reflect (but not act) on Venusian matters such as finances, relationships, creativity, possessions and self-esteem. Once you have spent these six weeks observing and thinking about these areas of your life, feel free to initiate any needed changes after Venus goes direct. More cautious souls may wish to wait until Venus clears her shadow (the point at which she went retrograde) on 5/21 before taking action in these areas.

3/8 (Sun). Mars conjuncts Neptune today. Good ways to use this energy include trying an innovative method of achieving divine union, doing chi gung or tai chi, swimming laps, beginning a new creative project based on the Muse’s inspiration, dancing yourself into an altered state of consciousness or enjoying a tantra session with your lover or spouse. Then again, why not do them all?
Actually, doing everything in the above paragraph could be a challenge with Saturn opposing the Sun. This can be a period of depressed vitality, unless you outsmart Saturn by industriously applying yourself to some project or "retreating into your cave" for some solitary reflection.
Finally, Mercury enters Pisces today through 3/25, a good time for expressing your divinely inspired creativity or focusing your thoughts on divine union. The first paragraph of the 3/5 entry also applies to this period, since Pisces and Neptune share the same archetypal energy.
Mercury’s sign change forms a Stellium (three or more planets in the same sign) in Pisces, along with the Sun and Uranus. However, Aquarius, still boasting four planets and the North Node, remains the strongest sign in the sky.

3/10 (Tue). The FULL MOON brightens the night at 10:38 PM US eastern time at 21° Virgo. Any Full Moon in Virgo is a good time to evaluate how you're doing with your daily routines and workflow, health, and service to others. Then make appropriate adjustments as you move forward in these areas.
This Full Moon will be particularly intense because the Sun and Moon line up practically on top of the ongoing Saturn-Uranus opposition! The Moon is only two and half degrees past the conjunction it made to Saturn about four hours earlier, while the Sun is less than two days away from conjuncting Uranus. This could lead to a sense of powerful emotions wanting to burst forth (Uranus) while at the same time being repressed (Saturn).
With the Moon also quincunx Chiron, this freshly stirred-up vat of emotional energy could lead to powerful healing if you can make the appropriate adjustment. Focus on staying solidly grounded (Saturn) and stay tuned to your intuitive flashes (Uranus) to help you deal with this challenging scenario.
The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is – believe it or not – “A girl’s basketball team.” You could do the literal thing and attend a sporting event, or you could interpret it more symbolically: getting in touch with your receptive nature and focusing on cooperation with others.
Mercury is also sextile Pluto, a good time for research and intense, transformative communication.

3/11 (Wed). The two ancient good luck planets, Venus and Jupiter, make a harmonious sextile today. This creates good opportunities for reflecting (since Venus is retrograde) on relationships, creative expression and finances. This is also a good time to sell things – on eBay, for example – since people will often pay more than things are worth when Venus is retrograde. (Therefore, be cautious about your own impulse purchases thru 4/17!)

3/12 (Thu). This is the day to “let your freak flag fly,” since the Sun conjuncts Uranus! Intuitive flashes might be especially strong under this conjunction.

3/14 (Sat). Mars enters Pisces today thru 4/22, energizing new beginnings in divinely inspired creativity and spiritual union. This makes Pisces the strongest sign in the sky, finally dethroning Aquarius’ extended reign!

3/17 (Tue). Writers, lecturers and learners will get a creative boost today, thanks to Mercury's quintile to Pluto.

3/18 (Wed). With Mercury in Pisces (imagination and visualization) opposing Saturn (crystallization and physical manifestation), it's a wonderful time to use the Law of Attraction! But be sure that your flights of fancy and creativity don't distract you too much from your responsibilities -- otherwise, Saturn may have to write you a reality check!

3/19 (Thu). Piscean Mars sextile Pluto is a great energy for tantric lovemaking, fighting for your ideals, and new beginnings in the areas of spiritual immersion and divinely inspired creativity.

3/20 (Fri). Today marks the arrival of the SPRING EQUINOX (a/k/a the Sun entering Aries, where it will remain thru 4/19). This is an ideal time for reveling in the Northern Hemisphere's annual upswelling of new energy, as well as initiating new projects. It's also a great time to read this Ogden Nash poem out loud:
Spring is sprung, the grass is riz
I wonder where the birdie is?
The bird is on the wing
Bird on the wing? But that's absurd
I thought the wing was on the bird!

3/22 (Sun). Spring certainly has its share of storms, and one of the most powerful could be the abundant lightning strikes of intuitive flash triggered by today's Mercury-Uranus conjunction. If you're not yet an adept flash-catcher, these two meditation techniques -- the Divine Saturation Snap Meditation and my "Divine Writing" Exercise -- might help you!
Jupiter and Saturn, the two business planets, would love to work together today -- if you can make the creative adjustment needed to bridge their quincunx! Since they're in Aquarius and Virgo respectively, use both sides of your brain, catching intuitive flashes of genius on the right, then working out the niggling details on the left.

3/23 (Mon). Sun-Pluto squares are always times to surrender the ego to needed transformation. With the Sun in Aries, however, things could get volatile. This energy could goad some people toward violence, so make sure you bone up on your conflict resolution skills!

3/25 (Wed). Mercury enters Aries today through 4/10, a good time to initiate projects involving learning, teaching, writing and other forms of communication.
This sign change creates a new STELLIUM (three or more planets in a sign) in Aries -- that's a lot of fiery energy! -- and dissolves the stellium in Pisces.

3/26 (Thu). The March NEW MOON occurs at 12:06 PM US Eastern time at 6°07' Aries. This is an extremely powerful energy for new beginnings, since both the event and the sign broadcast the energy of initiation.
This New Moon "soup" is well spiced, with three planets making strong aspects to the Moon. With Venus conjunct, one might think that new beginnings in relationship, creativity and finances would be indicated. However, since Venus will be retrograde through 4/17 (see the 3/6 entry), this is actually a better time to reflect on those life areas than to take new action on them.
Mercury, however, is direct, in Aries, and also conjunct the Moon. Thus, the way is clear for new beginnings in learning, teaching, writing and other ways of communicating. A challenging square from Pluto to the Moon suggests that, rather than beginning from a tabula rasa, this new start will involve releasing or transforming something that's already there -- and letting go might not be easy.
This new Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “A man succeeds in expressing himself simultaneously in two realms.” This certainly resonates with the Mercury conjunction, since Mercury rules Gemini, the sign of The Twins. But whereas Mercury might be content to involve itself in two different earthly activities, this symbol also speaks to the realms of heaven and earth.
This New Moon and its aspects beautifully expresses the enlightened energy toward which mankind must move if the coming evolutionary shift is to be accomplished harmoniously rather than catastrophically. The new beginning (New Moon in Aries) can be accomplished with beauty, grace and harmony (Venus), with good communication and in a spirit of curiosity (Mercury), all while surrendering to the urgent need for transformation (the Pluto square). So, if you are called, at this New Moon consider dedicating (or re-dedicating) yourself to doing whatever you can to help yourself and others embrace the new paradigms needed so urgently on the planet at this time.

3/27 (Fri). Mercury squares Pluto today. While this could put your desire to learn or express yourself in conflict with those who would rather you didn't, this is good energy under which to conduct research or dare to speak the truth about something that really matters.
Evening Star Venus makes an inferior conjunction to the Sun today, retrograding back to assume her alternate personality as Morning Star. This is a good time to give special focus to your Venus retrograde reflections on relationships, creativity and resources.

3/28 (Sat). Today's Mercury-Venus conjunction carries forward the energy of yesterday's Sun-Venus conjunction; see the second paragraph of the 3/27 entry for details.

3/30 (Mon). March concludes on a bright note: the conjunction of Mercury and the Sun! Mental activity of all kinds, whether information is flowing in or out, is well supported. Consider marking the occasion by watching Sunshine, Danny Boyle's underappreciated sci-fi masterpiece, in which both Mercury and the Sun are prominently featured.

The overall "cosmic weather" affecting everyone

It’s All Good Astrology

February 2009
by Benjamin Bernstein

2/1, 1:09 - 5:10 pm, Taurus
2/3,    8:28 - 9:16 pm, Gemini
2/5, 12:45 - 11:07 pm, Cancer
2/7, 2:08 - 11:45 pm, Leo
2/9, 2:29 pm – 2/10, 12:40 am, Virgo
2/11, 11:18 pm – 2/12, 3:34 am, Libra
2/14, 9:47 - 9:52 am, Scorpio
2/16, 4:38 - 7:55 pm, Sagittarius
2/18, 8:37 pm – 2/19, 8:27 am, Capricorn
2/21, 4:02 am - 9:08 pm, Aquarius
2/23, 9:09 pm – 2/24, 8:01 am, Pisces
2/26,   1:10 am - 4:25 pm, Aries

2/28, 12:52 - 10:35 pm, Taurus

THE STORY SO FAR: Saturn retrograde thru 5/16, Mercury retrograde thru 2/1, 2:11 am.

2/1 (Sun). MERCURY GOES DIRECT today at 2:11 AM, ending the retrograde which began 1/11. This is a good time to take the fruits of the last three weeks’ contemplations and reflections and begin putting them into action.
Interestingly, Mercury resumes its forward motion at the focal point of a
WEDGE aspect pattern (composed of an opposition, a trine and a sextile) which began 1/25, peaks today, and lasts through 2/5. With Mercury pulling energy from the current Saturn-Uranus opposition, it's an especially good time to move forward with actions that involve paradigm-shifting or releasing outmoded structures!

2/2 (Mon). VENUS ENTERS ARIES today, starting her annual journey through the zodiac anew. She normally spends about a month in each sign, but will spend nearly five months in Aries due to her upcoming retrograde on 3/6.
Venus is not naturally at home in Aries, which is the sign of her detriment. But since she’s settling in for such an extended stay, you might want to adopt some strategies to redirect potentially negative energy in more positive directions. To keep adversarial energy out of your intimate relationships, find some forceful, assertive actions you can take out in the world as a couple. Get lots of exercise, and consider starting or reenergizing creative projects. Finally, keep the sexual energy flowing strong. (Have you experimented with tantra?) Make love, not war!

2/4 (Wed). With Saturn quincunx Chiron, it may be a good time to call in a consultant to have an objective look at your business. Since we're now in the most challenging business climate we've seen in decades, "business as usual" (Saturn in Virgo) is no longer good enough. Some outside-the-box thinking from an innovative mentor (Chiron in Aquarius) could help you see just what adjustments (quincunx) you need to make now. (Adopting a similar strategy for non-business adjustments is also supported.)
Mars enters Aquarius today through 3/14. This makes a total of five planets (Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, the Sun and Chiron), as well as the North Node, in this sign! Mars adds initiation, drive and passion to this rich mix in the archetypal energy of the unusual, the brilliant, the revolutionary and the humanitarian.

2/5 (Thu). February's big event is here: THE SATURN-URANUS OPPOSITION! These two powerful planets will be making five oppositions in total, with this being the second. (The first was on Election Day, 11/4/08, and the other oppositions will be exact on 9/15/2009, 4/26/2010 & 7/26/2010.) However, the energy of this opposition will be strong and consistent through the Fall of 2010.
I discussed this series of oppositions in this article, but here’s the bottom line: Uranus’ job is to revolutionize or destroy existing structures that have outlived their usefulness. If a structure is still useful, Uranus will strive to paradigm shift it to the next level.
Therefore, I highly recommend that you consciously release all outworn structures of any type in your life, however wonderfully they may have served you in the past. (Be especially attentive to your intuitive flashes!) Otherwise, your Higher Self will do whatever it must to move you forward on your evolutionary path. Under these types of energies, resistance tends to breed suffering.
Check your natal chart for any sensitive points that lie between 18° and 24° Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces or Gemini. These are the ones that will be affected most powerfully by the revolutionary power of the current Saturn-Uranus opposition.
As if the Saturn-Uranus opposition isn't enough to deal with, Venus also squares Pluto today! This aspect promotes a frequently challenging "death and rebirth" process in relationships. You will be able to move even more deeply into relationships that promote your positive personal transformation. However, relationships that act as drags on your evolutionary process should now be released, or at least put on the back burner.
The Venus-Pluto square can also supercharge creativity, especially if you're willing to plunge in with an uncensored, no-holds-barred attitude.

2/8 (Sun). Your vitality may feel a bit constricted due to today's Sun-Saturn quincunx. One response would be to take a "chill day" (it is Sunday, after all!). Or, if there is work that must be done, overcome the initial inertia by sheer force of will. Saturn will reward you with momentum once you get the ball rolling.

2/9 (Mon). We've had a lot of intense lunations lately, and today's FULL MOON/LUNAR ECLIPSE is no exception!
The Moon will be at 21° Leo when it goes full at 9:49 AM US Eastern time. Leo Full Moons are excellent times to consider how "full-filled" you are in the areas of leadership, taking the spotlight with your creative expression, playfulness, taking enough time off, risk-taking and children. Whichever of these areas is important to you, take stock and make appropriate adjustments.
Eclipses are like lunations on steroids. So, rather than focus on these areas for only a month, as with most New and Full Moons, consider keeping them in mind for six months following the eclipse.
This particular eclipse is so strong because it's receiving several challenging aspects from slower planets: oppositions from Neptune and Chiron, a quincunx from Uranus and a semi-sextile from Saturn. That's every planet from Saturn out except Pluto, and that's a lot of power!
Thus, as you work with these potent energies, be as receptive as possible so that you can receive Spirit’s guidance, whether it manifests as intuitive flash (Uranus) or flow (Neptune). And since the Saturn-Uranus opposition is involved, also bear in mind what I said about it in my 2/5 entry area as you work your Full Moon magic.
The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon Eclipse is, "Intoxicated chickens dizzily flap their wings trying to fly.” It's an apt image, since the amount of transpersonal power being focused into this eclipse could easily put you into an altered state of consciousness! Do your best to maintain a focused center in the midst of this energy so that, unlike that fowl example of drunkenness, your energy translates into productive accomplishment.

2/12 (Thu). The Sun conjuncts Neptune today, thinning the veils so that you can more easily experience the conscious presence of Spirit and receive the creative inspiration of your Muse. (With this conjunction happening in Aquarius, consider trying something out of the ordinary!) The desire to be transported into other realms can be strong today -- I recommend using the aforementioned methods rather than overdoing drugs or alcohol!

2/14 (Sat). The other signs of the Zodiac must be getting jealous: with Mercury's entry into Aquarius today, there are now six planets in this sign, as well as the North Node! Mercury will be in Aquarius through 3/8, making it easier to receive intuitive flashes, shake up your fixed concepts and embody “the mind of the genius.” (It's also a great time to study astrology!)

2/16 (Mon). Relationships benefit from some flowing energy today as Venus sextiles Jupiter. If the month’s more challenging energies have brought up issues between you and those whom you care about, this is a great time to focus on the good things you share and possibly mend fences. Creative types should also find their inspiration boosted.

2/17 (Tue). The desires to get things started, pioneer something new or act as a warrior may all be strong today as Mars conjuncts Jupiter. (You may also be facing RLS: Raging Libido Syndrome!) Think twice before acting out in extremely bizarre ways, and be aware that less evolved persons may be prone to sudden aggression under this energy.

2/18 (Wed). Amplified opportunity for relationship harmony comes today as Venus sextiles Mars. Not only are the two relationship planets making a flowing and energetic connection, but Jupiter -- the luckiest planet in the sky -- is conjunct Mars (see the 2/17 entry) and sextile Venus. With Venus in Aries and Mars in Aquarius, the energy is especially ripe for a new beginning or paradigm shift in relationships and creative expression.
The Sun also enters Pisces today through 3/20, radiating the energy of compassion, imagination, spiritual union and divinely inspired creativity. (The Sun's sign change brings the Aquarius count down to five planets and one node.)

2/21 (Sat). The Sun has precious little time to space out in Pisces before today's sextile to Pluto yanks it back to earth. Fortunately, the Piscean Sun is a natural shapeshifter, so whatever transformation Pluto has in mind for you should face less resistance than usual.

2/24 (Tue). Mercury conjuncts Jupiter today, blending the energies of the natural rulers of writing and publishing. It could also set off an explosion of mental activity, which could express inwardly (learning) or outwardly (talking, teaching, lecturing, blogging, etc.). Since it's happening in Aquarius, be on the alert for original or exciting ideas popping into your cranium!
          Today's
NEW MOON happens at 8:35 PM at 7° Pisces. Consider what new beginnings you want to make in the areas of divine union, divinely inspired creativity and compassion.
This New Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “Illumined by a shaft of light, a large cross lies on rocks surrounded by sea mist." In An Astrological Mandala, Dane Rudhyar describes this as, "The spiritual blessing which strengthens individuals who, happen what may, stand uncompromisingly for their own truth.”
Rudhyar’s main descriptive paragraph is also worth sharing: "[Those] who do not depend upon collective values, traditions or support but seek at any cost to be true to their individual self and destiny almost inevitably face some kind of crucifixion. They are sustained only by the power within them, to which a light above answers. The symbol tells us: ‘Be true to thine own self, and in the midst of the outer confusion displayed by those surrounding you, you will realize what you really are as an individual -- a [child] of God.’”

2/25 (Wed). Mercury sextiles Venus today, creating a supportive environment for communication, creativity and writing.

2/28 (Sat). There could be conflict between visionary initiative and the entrenched status quo today, since Mars in Aquarius is quincunxing Saturn in Virgo. There could also be some resistance to getting started with your projects today, but you could be blessed with the persistence of the Energizer Bunny if you make the effort!

The overall "cosmic weather" affecting everyone

It’s All Good Astrology

January 2009

General Forecast  |  Sun Signs

1/3, 3:51 - 4:51 am, Aries
1/5, 10:42 - 10:47 am, Taurus
1/7, 1:06 am - 1:13 pm, Gemini
1/9, 1:40 am - 1:15 pm, Cancer
1/10, 11:27 pm – 1/11, 12:42 pm, Leo
1/13, 1:39 am - 1:34 pm, Virgo
1/15, 9:38 am - 5:31 pm, Libra
1/17, 9:46 pm – 1/18, 1:22 am, Scorpio
1/19, 10:37 pm – 1/20, 12:31 pm, Sagittarius
1/22, 11:24 am - 1:20 am, Capricorn
1/25, 4:09 am - 1:58 pm, Aquarius
1/27, 12:13 pm – 1/28, 1:14 am, Pisces

1/30, 4:24 - 10:26 am, Aries

THE STORY SO FAR: Saturn turned retrograde on 12/31, and is the only planet retrograde as 2009 begins.

1/1. Mercury enters Aquarius today thru 1/20, so stay tuned for extra intuitive flashes and unconventional thinking. (These phenomena will be especially strong the first few days of January, due to Mercury's separating conjunction with Jupiter.)

1/3. Venus enters Pisces today thru 2/2, enhancing creative expression. It will also facilitate union with Spirit, as well as the various beings here on Earth. One can sometimes mistake fantasy for reality under this influence. Fortunately, there are still plenty of planets in Capricorn to give you a reality check!

1/4. Creative empowerment and positive relationship transformation are supported by today's Venus-Pluto sextile. This is also a powerful energy under which to hold the vision of your financial abundance!

1/5. JUPITER ENTERS AQUARIUS today through 1/17/2010, significantly enhancing the energy of revolution, paradigm shift and universal brotherhood. Coming the same month as Barack Obama's inauguration, the timing could hardly be better: it will give him about a year of strong Aquarian juice to help them get his innovative programs rolling. (Plus, Aquarius is Obama’s rising sign!)

1/10. January's FULL MOON occurs today at 10:27 PM US Eastern time at 21°2’ Cancer. Consider how "full-filled" you are in the areas of nurturing and healing, and make any appropriate adjustments.
This Full Moon is especially powerful because, amazingly, it aspects every planet beyond Jupiter except Pluto! Specifically, it sextiles Saturn, quincunxes Chiron and trines Uranus, suggesting the need for significant paradigm shift and adjustment. (Stay tuned to your intuitive flashes for specifics, or try this "divine writing exercise" to solicit your inner guidance proactively.) If you know enough astrology, pay special attention to the meaning of the house where this Full Moon occurs in your natal chart, and how it aspects any important points in your chart around 21° in any sign.
This Full Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “A young woman awaiting a sailboat.” As Dane Rudhyar explains in An Astrological Mandala, this symbol is ripe with spiritual promise. It is in the nature of youth to seek new horizons, and woman is, by nature, receptive. A sailboat is propelled by the wind, an element often associated with Spirit, and the water on which it travels can represent the depths of consciousness. Thus, as you negotiate this Full Moon's challenges, remember that their purpose is to quicken your evolution and prepare you for the next leg of your spiritual journey!
The ever-persistent Saturn-Uranus opposition is receiving another of its periodic juice-ups, triggered this time by the Sun. Our solar system's life-giver is trining Saturn and sextiling Uranus, forming a
WEDGE. This aspect pattern, which peaks today and is active the 5th through the 12th, gives a temporary boost to the underlying energy of paradigm-shift-versus-status-quo that will be with us through the summer of 2010. Since the Sun’s aspects are flowing, however, it will be easier to find a harmonious balance between the old and the new.

1/11. MERCURY RETROGRADE starts today at 11:43 am and lasts until 2/1 at 2:11 am. As with all Mercury retrogrades, try to avoid starting important new projects during this time, and be aware that travel, communication and technology may experience glitches. However, it's always a great time for reflection and planning!
Mercury is conjunct Jupiter and the North Node in Aquarius as it retrogrades, so reflect on what gives you hope and on whether you're consciously moving toward the fulfillment of your unique destiny.
        Synchronistically,
CERES ALSO GOES RETROGRADE today thru 4/12. The grain goddess carries the energy of our Earth Mother, so be sure to also reflect on how you can live in a more harmonious and sustainable way with the environment.

1/16. Venus quintiles Pluto today, giving abundant opportunity for creative empowerment and the inspired transformation of relationship!

1/18. Mercury conducts Jupiter in Aquarius today -- great for publishing, communication and brilliant big-picture ideas. It's also an ideal time to reflect on your spiritual path and contemplate new fields of knowledge to explore. Just beware of motormouth syndrome!

1/19. The Sun joins the four planets already in Aquarius today. It will remain thru 2/17, where it will help to stimulate the two main levels of Aquarian development: the self-centered stage of awakening to and developing your own unique talents, followed (hopefully!) by the service-oriented stage where you use your special skills to help others.

1/20. The Sun and Mercury cross paths in Aquarius today, making it a great time for learning, sharing information, and inaugurating a new US president renowned for his shining oratory!

1/21. Mercury re-enters Capricorn 1/21 through 2/13, promoting mental discipline and serious, realistic thinking.

1/22. You can quickly put intuitive flashes into action today as Mars sextiles Uranus. Venus also conjuncts Uranus, a powerful time for paradigm-shifting relationships and being inspired to take creativity in new directions. (Both of these aspects are also part of the Wedge aspect pattern described on 1/23.)

1/23. Just how solid is your relationship? That question may be very much on your mind today, as well as the 19th through the 27th. Why? Because Mars and Venus, the primary relationship planets, are both part of another WEDGE aspect pattern involving -- guess who? That's right, it's that darned Saturn-Uranus opposition again! Venus conjuncts Uranus (1/22) and opposes Saturn (1/24) during this period, while Mars kicks up the intensity by trining Saturn and sextiling both Uranus and Venus.
Partnerships that have a solid foundation will not only survive, but will have the opportunity to paradigm shift to the next level. Mind those intuitive flashes – they’ll guide you if you let them!

1/24. It’s January's busiest astrological day! Relationships could be simultaneously energized and challenged (Venus sextile Mars and opposing Saturn), while sustained productivity (Mars trine Saturn) and an overall sense of joy and optimism (Sun conjunct Jupiter) round out the day’s energies. (All of these aspects except the Sun-Jupiter conjunction are part of the Wedge described on 1/23.)

1/26. A NEW MOON/SOLAR ECLIPSE occurs today at 2:55 AM at 6°29’ Aquarius (at virtually the same place where Mercury went retrograde!). The simplest way to think of a solar eclipse is like a New Moon on steroids, so put extra energy into new beginnings around individuation, paradigm shift and using your unique gifts to help the larger community. With Jupiter, ruler of foreign lands, conjunct the eclipse, a global sense of community would definitely be appropriate. And with the North Node also conjunct the eclipse, try to set new goals in alignment with your higher life purpose.
The Sabian Symbol for this eclipse is, “A child is seen being born out of an egg.” This striking image is suggestive of a quantum leap in evolution, so release your attachment to your old way of being and dive boldly into the mystery of what you might become!

1/26-27. Mercury sextiles Venus and conjuncts Mars on these days. This will boost the waning energy of the Wedge described on 1/23, so don't let it catch you off guard! These aspects will also energize communication within relationships and open the door to translating thoughts rapidly into action.

JANUARY 2009 SUN SIGN FORECASTS

These Sun Sign forecasts were written for Aquarius Magazine.

ARIES

January is optimized for working and networking, Aries. Apply your fiery enthusiasm to vocational pursuits, and take advantage of business socializing to improve your prospects. The opportunity for wealth and power in your career over the next several years is extraordinary! However, if your current job doesn’t serve your highest need, these energies may require the transformation or release of your current position to create space for something better. During the week of 1/22, follow your intuitive flashes to help bring about positive transformation. Communication and information sharing is supported around the 27th

TAURUS

January is a good month for social activities and networking, Taurus. Higher learning, foreign explorations, and philosophical or religious questing are also supported. You'll feel empowered around the 4th, and inspired to "be an original" around the 22nd (pay attention of those intuitive flashes!). Draw upon your inner warrior for the strength to overcome adversity around the 24th. Finally, learning and communication are energized around the 26th.

GEMINI

Good news, Gemini: the first two-thirds of the month are great for indulging your natural love of learning, as well as exploring foreign cultures and pondering the meaning of life. After that, focus more on inward-looking activities such as psychology, research and occult practice. Reflection is better than initiation 1/11 thru 1/31. Luck may smile on you around the 18th, and you should feel especially energized around the 18th and 20th. Relationship and creativity should flow well around the 26th. You may feel like starting something new around the 27th, but try to restrain yourself at least until 2/1.

CANCER

Your big theme for the next couple of years is relationships, Cancer. Here’s the crucial question for any important relationship in your life right now: is this person supporting my positive transformation, or am I helping someone transform in a way that's also good for me? Put your energy into these kinds of interactions, while avoiding or minimizing others. (I'm talking about people who non-coercively support your growth, not micromanaging control freaks!)

LEO

Humbling though it may be, put yourself on a details detail through the 19th, Leo. Filing, organizing, sorting, tidying -- get your house in order before shifting your focus more to relationships and creative expression starting on the 20th. In the days around the 10th, stay open to intuitive flashes that will show you which structures in your life are still sound, and which require transformation or release. Mental activity is supported around the 20th, and the 24th could be a lucky day!

VIRGO

You're on your archetypal home turf through the 20th, Virgo -- a great time to manage details and serve others. (Just make sure it’s service you enjoy!) Focus on reflection and planning the 11th through the 31st, while avoiding major new kickoffs until February (even if you’re tempted to jump the gun around the 27th). The 18th should be a lucky day, and you should have abundant energy around the 20th. Finally, plan to channel your Muse or cuddle with your sweetheart around the 26th.

LIBRA

Libras can be people pleasers, so be especially mindful that you're getting as good as you give this month. Embracing transformation can lead to empowerment around the 4th, while you should release your inhibitions and let your freak flag fly around the 22nd. Call upon the martial spirit of Aries, your complementary opposite, to overcome a significant obstacle around the 24th. Finally, it will be a good time to catch up with friends or share your thoughts around the 26th.

SCORPIO

It's a good month for learning, writing and teaching, Scorpio, as well as letting yourself dabble. Relationships and creative expression should flow well around the 4th, and your Muse should be especially active around the 16th. Prepare to be flashed (intuitively) around the 22nd, while your steady productivity may rival the Energizer Bunny’s around the 24th. Mental activity is especially well supported around the 27th.

SAGITTARIUS

For most Sagittarians, the big themes for 2008 were about maximizing stability: boosting income, gathering material resources and amplifying self-esteem. This year, however, take time to lighten up and branch out. Let your curiosity lead you into new areas. Let yourself try out a few things with no intention of achieving mastery. Talk with your friends more. It may even be time to turn that book idea into an actual manuscript! Your mental acuity will get a boost from the 18th, as will your vitality around the 24th.

CAPRICORN

One of Capricorn’s mottos is "Plan your work and work your plan." With your planetary ruler Saturn retrograde 12/31/08 through 5/16/09, you may not feel so much like plunging into full-steam productivity. However, you should be able to make significant headway with your planning. Longer term, you're being asked to pay special attention to your inner flashes of intuitive guidance and be more open to paradigm shift through October of 2010. This month, you should enjoy extra energy around the 11th, with new beginnings (creative and otherwise) supported around the 24th.

AQUARIUS

Feeling unusually tense lately, Aquarius? A bit high-strung? It's no wonder, with your modern and ancient planetary rulers (Uranus and Saturn) in opposition thru Fall 2010! Your core structures will be repeatedly tested during this time, and you will need to paradigm shift or release any which are less than rock-solid. This month, you should enjoy extra vitality in the days around the 10th, good initiation energy the days around the 23rd, and strong support for creativity and relationship around the 22nd.

PISCES

Your natural inclinations toward spiritual union and divinely inspired creativity get lots of support, Pisces -- not just this month, but all year! Your need for altered states of consciousness will be strong, so amp up the meditation and creativity. Otherwise, you could be tempted by the Piscean dark side: overindulgence in drugs or alcohol, or excessive escape into TV, internet, gaming or other potential addictions. This month, learning and information sharing or boost around the 18th, and you'll get an energy boost around the 24th.
